let's be honest.

if it were iris who went and hit ash with snowballs while he was depressed how many people would consider it 'trying to snap him out of it' and how many people would call her an abusive and violent bitch?

if it were max who told brock to force himself to love a girl because she loves him (love can't be forced but ok), how many people would say 'stfu max and mind your own business you know nothing about love'?

if it were iris who hit her Pokemon for a cheap gag, how many people would call her an abuser? and if it were iris who released the pokemon she had issues with and constantly told them they're pathetic, how many people would say she's a bad trainer and an abuser and how many would say it's just a 'different training method'?

if it were iris who cheered against ash for a good looking gym leader, how many people would deem her whole character to 'unsupportive b*tch' or something similar

if it were max who told ash that he doesn't deserve his pokemon, would people be like 'you go king'?

if max or iris hit ash with a log because ash didn't praise them enough or didn't want to do something they did, how many people would hate their guts and deem them worst characters and 'abusive brats'?

why is it perfectly ok for mis/ty to get cocky about knowing things ash doesn’t but not for max? before you say ‘because mis/ty knew things’ well so did max

i know iris and max would never even think about doing these things, but let's pretend for a sec.

if mis/ty or ser/ena painted themselves and brock/clemont/bonnie and made loud noise to cheer on ash and drown out the opposing gym leader's supporters, people would say it's a proof that 'ash belongs with her'.

people point out how mis/ty and ser/ena were often concerned for ash, but completely ignore that iris and max do the exact same thing.

look, im not saying mis/ty's or ser/ena's whole character are 'abusive brat' (pa/ul though... yeah...). i’m just saying max and iris are also more than 'cocky know it all' and 'ash's bully' (calling someone a kid with a playful tone in your voice isn't exactly bullying)

and if you can see the good parts of mis/ty and ser/ena despite the fact that they did worse things than max and iris did then surely you can see that max and iris aren't these terrible, irredeemable demons.

i'm not saying max and iris never did anything wrong. i'm just saying they didn't do everything wrong.

because i honestly do find it weird if not lowkey misogynistic that we can easily excuse miles edgeworth's flaws and crimes and etc (that were probably really really bad and affected innocent people yknow) as because oh manfred von karma manipulation and all that

but anyway back to my point

that dude [miles edgeworth] was not innocent before being with phoenix again and coming to his senses

and so i just feel like iris deserves more grace.
