What happened to our tourism slogan: "Life is here in Davao City"?
Awhile ago prolly 10pm, my friend and me are having fun in a KTV just near Bajada when she got a text message about the recent rob-shot incidents in the city and some info regarding the said victims. At that instant we were both alarmed and decided that we should better be heading home. While at the jeepney, I got a text message about this talked-about killings that bothered me even more. When I got home I knew I needed to go online to really know what's going on, until I found myself in horror while reading the posts on my news feed....
It's not the first that it happened here, this killings have existed ever since, but this time the number just out grew and intervals have shortened. It caught so much attention because these recent crimes seemed to patterned with robbery by motorcycle-riding men and what's more alarming is that most ov'em happened on daytime.
I think it's a bit absurd to say that "Davao is no longer a safe place" since no place is actually safe. It breaks my heart that the city where I live in which used to be labeled as "the safest city" (makes me so proud btw) is now considered to be unsafe & dangerous. Well I personally think danger is lurking everywhere not just in Davao, remember we should all be our own steward. Though I know this is really a huge scare to us all, but as much as possible let's alter this whole paranoia with much alert thinking. Serious shit is really going on, this ain't any marvel-superhero to the rescue-vs the bad guys thing. Let's not even dare say blaming the police officers because we all know that they served well.
Do you really believe that this is all about desperation out of poverty? I don't think so.
The first reported incident gives a simple conclusion that it's pure robbery of course. Then came the next one, it made me think that as long as I don't go out at night, it's gonna be a wider chance to be safe. But when I heard on the news that continuous attacks are in random time of the day, I was jaw-dropped in disbelief.
(I'm no detective nor CSI, all I have is my common-sense. I'm not trying to mind-fuck y'all, these are mere theories. Find it quite stupid? well I don't give a shit. I'll be standing by my opinion anyway. But I still hope that I'm all wrong though. excuse me for my profanity.)
---Do they really need 4 bullets if the only motive is pure robbery?
I couldn't even find the right words to describe these bastards . If they're just in desperate need of money, what's the point of having multiple gunshots? They're already in full helmet, the victim won't obviously recognize their fucking faces. If they do want to kill their victim, more than bullet is way too brutal. I don't believe that this is pure robbery or if it was then they're just some fucking sadomasochist that's beyond evil.
---Why do it on day time?
Even though if security in the city is tighter at night time, it's still much accessible for them to held these hold-ups since they could have an easy escape without having the risk of seen by any witness. Don't you find it odd that they do it even on day time in places prone to be seen by these passers-by? They might just want to distract any possible time patterns or they need to get people's attention. It's like they're trying to tell us that they shouldn't be underestimated, that they are a huge deal. That they can do it whenever they are pleased to do so.
---They sure have a lot of guts to play such dirty game under Duterte's nose.
Digong has earned high respect through out his years of service. Other cities may not find him a role model, but with what our city's turned out progress, we davaoenos seem to abide by his way of running the city. We understood and sure has appreciate his violent treatment against these criminals which of course disciplined the people. There are a lot of speculations regarding this so-called DDS(Davao Death Squad) which brought such controversy not just in the city but all through out the country. Other local governments may find this alarming but we, davaoenos seem to find the city much safer w/ this "DDS" around, it's something that we have already accepted. And because of Digong's fierce and frank approach in "gikan sa masa;para sa masa" (local news program) against these criminals, drug addicts, thieves, rapists - number of crimes within the city started to shrink down. Yet these perpetrators seem to neglect that fact and shows no fear at all.
---What is their real motive?
Is it really all about robbery and financial desperation? But if they want to send a message it's definitely not for the people. Above everyone else, Digong is the initial person that would be triggered by these successive killings. Are they trying to provoke the Duterte's? Are they trying to test the Duterte's depth? Who is behind this? That bastard seem not to fear Duterte at all.
Whatever motive they have, fuck them all for taking away innocent lives! Yes, you may find me quite exaggerated with my reaction....Why shouldn't I? one of those innocent people could be me or one of my family members, relatives or friends. I may not be related by blood with those victims but I truly feel so much pity for their families and friends. This is worst than any other calamity that we've experienced. Human betraying his own race is beyond unacceptable. But then again let's not take away our faith for humanity. Let's all pray for the souls of the victims. They should have the justice that they deserve.
"It's not in wondering but in praying that we find the strength of the Lord."
