Unaddressed Phenomenon Number One
There's something we've not been talking about. It's the elephant in the proverbial room. I know Jess and AJ have seen it. It's been going on since the birth of Youtube, and no one has addressed its creep factor.
I am, of course, talking about fanvids.
If you're not a big Youtube user, you might not know what I'm talking about. And even if you are, if you've never searched for a tv show or a really cheesy song (try Wonderwall by Oasis, jackpot), you've probably not seen much of this either.
UrbanDictionary defines it as "A music video made by the fan of a television show or movie, using a song and video clips from the show/movie." Lily defines it as "really creepily edited clips of a tv show/movie couple, frequently not a couple anyone ever wanted to see, set to a Top 40 Ballad."
Look, I'll be honest. Sometimes when I'm reminiscing about Boy Meets World, I'm definitely in a state of mind where I might turn to someone like andi1092, who made a video of Cory and Topanga set to Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This." Is it everyone's cup of tea? No, but I am a woman. Kelly gets me.
And then things start to get a little weird. Troy and Britta from Community edited to make it seem like they're into each other (sidenote: because I was making this post, that video played all the way through in another tab. I am horrified to know that I contributed another View to this.)
Kate and Desmond from Lost, what? Ryan and Taylor from to Train's Drops of Jupiter (I know they were a real couple, get off my jock, but everyone knows she sucks so hard, except, apparently Youtube user RonnyHarnack)?
The weirdest though, is the video I'm about to post. No one but my brother and me will probably understand just how weird this is. There are so many felonies involved. Basically, a really terrible reality show called Kid Nation aired a few years ago. I'm not here to talk about the (genius) trainwreck that show was, that's another post. I am here to talk about fanvids for that show.
Are you fucking crazy? Who edits videos to make it look like two kids under fourteen are in love with each other on an obscure ABC Reality Show? This person actually titled the video "Greg/Sophia: My Proof". What the fuck is wrong with you!? SuperificProductions needs to be investigated.
I can't end this on that note. So I'll put one a pretty solid one. Draco and Hermione, set to Elton John's Can You Feel the Love Tonight.
I can feel it, Katebert13, I really can.
