Sometimes I think about Hornet not having the needolin ability at the start of Silksong, or more specifically why she was never taught how to play music on her silk.
Because it’s something that seems so integral to weaver culture, and music is very present throughout all of Pharloom.
Was it not as important to the Deepnest weavers? Did it hold nothing but bad memories for them due to their former servitude to GMS? Did Herrah dream and the others leave before they would have taught Hornet? Did Hornet not have an interest in learning when she was so young?
Or maybe Hornet was taught, but it was so long ago, and she was so little, that she forgot how? Or Hornet learnt and still knew how and just never thought to play in that manner, by stringing her silk along her needle until after fighting and binding Widow.
(Maybe Hornet was just Awful at it, so bad she was only able to do it after Taking it from a twisted Weaver who had nothing but that left in her.)
Because what if Hornet COULD play at the start of Silksong? She’s scaling the grotto with a body that wants to give out on her when she finds a door with the face of a weaver, with harps attached. Hornet summons the strength to play her needle, open the door to a place clearly only meant for her kind. She finds it abandoned, save for a few skittering Servitor Ignims.
She reactivates the power, takes the map, and descends the elevator. Hornet hears Eva’s singing and no doubt follows it, reevaluating if the weavenest is truly abandoned.(it is, Eva is just one of the abandoned things) Hornet probably passes out right as she finds Eva(she is required to pass out before her first social interaction in Pharloom) and wakes up to Eva’s singing.
Eva has both a lot and very little to tell Hornet. No doubt they’d have an extremely loaded conversation about the Weavers. Eva wouldn’t know much of anything about who took Hornet and why, at most having some insight into the nature of the rune cage.
But yeah, finding Weavenest Atla at the very start of her journey before she knows that the weavers are long gone from Pharloom would definitely come with lots of complicated emotions.
But hey! Ascended Hunter’s crest immediately! (Moss Mother ain’t ready for this)
I think binding Eva would be even more heart-wrenching. Eva’s been aiding Hornet from day one in this timeline. Hornet would still be more than willing of course, but to lose that first ally? It’d be devastating.
