Honestly? I can’t say I recommend the show. Viren, his two kids and Aaravos are now pretty much the sole reason I watch it and even they suffered, to larger of lesser degrees, from “we set out to write a complex, nuanced, shades-of-gray story, where both sides commit terrible acts against the other and we ended up with a standard black-and-white cheap fantasy tale.”

did you make any new friends? yes!! so many, both during my final semester of university and in SF
how did this year treat you in general? honestly 2018 was so good to me. 2017 was a year of hard changes and new experiences, 2018 also had some major life upheavals but i had seen them coming for a long time and was able to handle them really well. i am very proud of myself and am glad 2018 was good to me
what’s one thing that you hope will continue next year? i spent a lot of 2018 consciously trying to love myself more and have noticed that my life was much better as a result. so i hope that i will continue to try and love myself more each day

it’s called forest! it’s basically a pomodoro timer and comes with charts of how many minutes you’ve used it over time, etc. it’s very slightly game-ified (whenever u start a timer it starts growing a little cartoon tree and if you try to leave the app to check twitter/your texts/etc it kills the tree, you can buy different trees by accruing in-game currency, etc) in a way that’s just enough to keep me interested, but it’s not so gimmicky or overcomplicated that i get tired of it, which is sometimes the case with stuff like habitica (and i do like habitica! i just fall off the wagon a lot bc sometimes it’s just Too Much). it’s been working well for me so far and all the problems ive had with using it are entirely on Me, not the App, like forgetting to start the timer every time i work or getting distracted during my five minute breaks, etc
