LUCY AND WESLEY: we listen and we do not judge …

The thing about Buddie and 911 is this: Procedural dramas like 911 often keep a "will they / won't they" couple around for as long as possible.
The longer a show like 911 keeps running the more the writers focus on the characters. In the beginning when we've barely just met these people we're curious about them, but we don't care that much yet, we haven't grown attached yet.
At the same time the precise premise is still new. We haven't seen them put out fires dozens of times yet. It's easier to come up with new ideas and harder to make us care about the characters' personal lives.
Later in the show it's harder to come up with new ideas, but we do care about the characters a lot more. The only problem is that at some point, when a show has been on for a really long time (like say 6 years), even the personal drama of the characters becomes repetitive.
So instead of breaking their heads over what problems a couple could face again and again and again they just keep the couple apart for as long as possible without it becoming too annoying. There are a lot of examples for this, for me personally Castle and Beckett come to mind.
That might be what they are doing with buddie. At least I wouldn't be surprised. All the other characters are paired off already and it's not unusual to only get the "will they / won't they" couple together towards the end of the show.
My only doubt is that we have zero confirmation about either Eddie or Buck being queer yet. You'd think that after 5 seasons of them dancing around each other the writers would at least tease us with a hint of potential. Keep us interested.
So my gut feeling is that season 7 might be the right time to drop some more substantial hints, especially after the fans reacted so negatively to Natalia and Marisol. The season 6 finale in general hasn't really been that convincing. 7.2 on imdb isn't bad, but only 2 episodes in all of 911 had a worse rating.
Considering the move to abc as well, it's uncertain if we'll even get an 8th season, not to mention any further seasons. Some of the actors are probably getting other great offers (Angela Basset, JLH or Oliver Stark for example), too.
If they want to do anything about Buddie at all without rushing it, time is slowly running out. If nothing happens in season 7 then I doubt it'll ever happen. But I haven't completely given up yet.
Too many detective procedurals have b-plots and metaplots and stuff. I don’t care that the coroner’s boyfriend is going through chemo or that the defense attorney has a rocky relationship with her daughter. We have to stop the killer

You know what I really hate? Like one of my most hated things in any visual media? women in jobs/positions where they should logically have their hair tied up wearing it down. See: the women in CSI (who work in a lab), fighters in general (secret agents, fbi, police), doctors (sanitary issues), chefs (sanitary issues), women out in an Adventure™️(do you really want your hair in your face when you’re trying to survive?), etc.
*This also applies to Period Dramas that take place in eras where grown women wearing their hair down was seen as promiscuous or childish.
