Addison’s Problem Definition:
Visitors to a new city need a way to have an authentic experience that is personalized to their tastes so that they don’t waste time doing touristy things they won’t enjoy.

HMW Questions: How might we compel locals to share parts of their life to complete strangers?
The problem:
Travel recommendations are not curated to the interests of the end user.
Looking at the competitive analysis of all the other travel sites there is no way to filter through the recommended places to visit. There is categorical data, like price, location, type of service but none are directed at the end user.
With the wealth of knowledge about the user already existing via social networking there is the capability to match people with people or places who share interests/ life styles.
Insight: People have different tastes and values. It is hard to find people with common interests and similar tastes.
HMW Questions: How might we help people with similar tastes connect with each other?
Insight: People enjoy different activities when visiting a new city.
HMW Questions: How might we help visitors find the right activity for them in a new city?
Insight: People have different budgets for travelling.
HMW Questions: How might we suggest the best experience within visitors’ budgets?
It is hard for visitors to discover a wide-range of places and activities in a new city, and hard to know which ones are the right ones to them within budgets. It is also difficult to create opportunities for people with similar tastes to meet offline.
We need a platform that knows each person’s interest and makes smart suggestions based on different tastes and budgets, and connects people with similar tastes to double the fun.
Insight: People have varying time and costs thresholds depending on the activity and location.
HMW Questions: How might we include variables like time and costs so travelers can figure out the activities they want to experience?
Insight: Travelers want to maximize their experiences by prioritizing certain activities (mixing both local vs sightseeing opportunities) to a ratio they prefer.
HMW Questions: How might we consider the ratio of local vs sightseeing experiences so travelers can maximize their foreign travel experience?
Insight: Tourists want to propose recommended sights, locations, or experiences based on their tastes?
HMW Questions: How might we recommend sights, locations and/or experiences so travelers can travel in (or out) of their comfort zone.
Build a recommendation engine that ingests a lot of factors about a location, experience or sight with flexible variables like time and costs so travelers can maximize their trip abroad based on their preferences and profile information.

We have learned that visitors to a new city aren't having personalized experiences tailored to their tastes and interests, causing them to waste time or money and miss out on things they would enjoy. How might we create a platform so that visitors to a new city can easily find things to do they know they will enjoy?
