Hi lovely! If you feel up to answer 4, 9 and 13 for any of your fics, I love them equally! 💖
Thank you so much to the lovely @smblmn!!! 💙🖤
4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue?
For You Can Fall, this part just came so damn easily, and I love it:
David grins again, like he knows. “Traffic lights.”
“Toasters,” says Patrick. “What are we doing?”
An eye roll. “No, traffic lights. Red, yellow, green.”
“Ohh.”
I also have a massive soft spot for Patrick's admission of feeling broken, in chapter 4 (Confidence).
For Bon Hiver I was really proud of the banter in the bar meeting, because I generally struggle a little with that when it's just banter and nothing else going on. It puts a lot of pressure on things.
9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?
I've talked about this already for You Can Fall so I'll answer this for Bon Hiver - I've read some fantastic fic about them hooking up right away, but for some reason I couldn't make it work for this one, so somewhere in the deleted text ether there's a version where they sleep with each other that first night. Otherwise, I sort of wish I'd fleshed out the last chapter a bit more, but I just ran out of time. As it is, I've already added a teeny bit to chapter 6 after publication.
13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?
I LOVE this question, because I always have a playlist running when I'm writing. For Bon Hiver the star song was always the beautiful "Holocene" by Bon Iver (as well as the Vitamin String Quartet version, which sounds just like rain and snow to me). Noah is always present, obviously ("Neverending December" and "Heroes/Ghosts" in particular). Also "Stay With Me" by Angus and Julia Stone and "Tis the Damn Season" by Taylor Swift for those cosy firelight vibes. The song featured in the fic itself is "Can't Help Falling in Love", and I chose Ingrid Michaelson's version from Be Ok, because it's sweet, and understated and romantic.
For You Can Fall I wanted all soft songs. The headline act was, unsurprisingly, Noah's gorgeous "Apollo", with a scattering of his Gemini songs. They paired very well with Taylor Swift's Evermore (particularly "Happiness" and "Coney Island"), Wild Pink's beautiful track "4th of July", and "Fall In Love Again" by Rag 'n' Bone Man, all of which have such soft heartbreak in their melodies and lyrics.
