Relief in Christ Jesus

    It feels... weird, walking up the steps to reach his apartment. It’s nothing new, and he knows where he is physically, but his own body felt the same way his mind did- completly numb. He’s barely blinked because every time he did all he could see was Cedric. Blink, Cedric standing above his hospital bed after he’d fallen off his broom. Blink, Cedric’s smile before a game. Blink, Cedric giving him a soul crushing hug after a lost game. Blink, Cedric, Percy and himself all sitting together for butterbeers. Blink, tattered clothes in Hufflepuff colors. Blink, Cedric being there with Perce to coax him out of the showers after the dementors accident. Blink, bringing Cedric a pack of chocolates now that it was his turn to be the one in the hospital bed, that smile when he tells him they’ll beat Gryffindor next time. Blink, the cuts and scrapes on his body. Blink, pale skin and dead eyes. 

    He doesn’t notice he’s already on his floor until he nearly trips taking the next step up. His own shaky breathing echoing in the empty stairwell. Oliver takes a moment to recollect himself, he has to. There’s no way he can deliver the news to Percy if he doesn’t have a good grip of his own emotions after all, Cedric had meant just as much if not more to Percy than he did to him. At least- at least he didn’t have to see him die. 

    Oliver steps into their apartment, locking their door behind him and setting his keys aside. Nearly immediatly greeted by Femi who’s on her perch giving her a curious look and following him as he pokes around for his boyfriend until he spots him. “Something--- something awful happened tonight... and you’re going to need to sit down.”

George hadn’t been alright since the battle of Hogwarts. That had been months ago but he felt lost. He had shut down completely without his twin there. His other half. A part of him was missing and George knew that he’d never get it back. How could he when Fred had been the other half of his soul? He’s not sure how much firewhisky he’s had but the man doesn’t really care either and he can’t exactly tell where he’s going but he’s going somewhere. He needs to go to someone and he goes to the first person that came to mind. 

His older brother. 

Percy.

It only takes a moment for the wizard to disappear into thin air and end up outside of the not so familiar apartment. He hadn’t really talked to most of his family since the battle, they hadn’t been the same but the others had tried, Ron  and Ginny had tried, Bill and Charlie had.... But George.. George wanted someone who was there. He knew he probably looked worse for wear but that seemed to be what happened when one went through a tragic event and he’s sure he smells like firewhisky but that doesn’t matter. Not at the moment. 

He raised his fist to knock on the door and leaned against the wall beside it as he waited, feeling tears in his eyes. It had been months since he’d even cracked a joke or smile. Maybe George was broken for good, maybe he was broken beyond repair. He didn’t know but maybe Percy could help. He always had when it mattered. 

“Percy?” The name is slurred as he knocked on the door again, louder this time. “Percy? Are ya home? Percy?”

          ❛ how could you not tell me ! ❜  she shouldn’t be so outraged of course, but it was rather typical of molly to overreact to the simplest things.  especially when it came to her children and the idea of them growing up.  and in her eyes, having a significant other was indeed growing up.  ❛ you always tell me everything percy, at least i  thought  that you did.  anything else you’re hiding now, hm ?  any other secret girlfriends i need to know about ? ❜

He wraps his arm around Percy’s waist, leaning his head against the other’s. It helps to calm him down, to know that Percy is finally back home and with the rest of them. They all wish it could’ve been under better circumstances, but the past was irreversible now and what mattered was at least they were... here.  Though the price of war would always be heavy on their shoulders. 

“Did ya eat breakfast already, Perce?” He asks, flicking a stand of her off from his brother’s forehead.
