Job Description:

Redesign and develop several innovative rehabilitation products that have significant mechanical design challenges and require design improvements in areas such as elegant design, aesthetics, ease of use (ergonomics), material selection, reliability, cost and weight reduction, and DFA (Design for Manufacturability).

Create 3D models and drawings for existing and new products, using 3D Modeling Software systems (preferably SolidWorks).

Work at a computer for 8+ hours per day.

See details of objects and drawings for extended periods of time.

Maintain professionalism at all levels in the organization.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

0-3 years of design-related work experience.

Strong understanding of how people interface with products and a keen sense for and attention to aesthetics.

Strong knowledge and/or experience with mechanical design, manufacturing methods, ergonomics, and cost effective manufacturing.

Fundamental knowledge of the manufacturing properties of various materials such as aluminum, titanium, steel, carbon fiber, and plastic.

Familiarity with machining, extrusion, plating, stamping, welding and fabrication, and plastic molding methods preferred.

High competency with 3D Modeling Software systems (preferably SolidWorks).

Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

Competence with other software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office).

Ability to turn creative ideas into innovative, practical, and cost-effective mechanical designs.

Outstanding time management and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work on multiple projects at one time.

Ability to work independently; self-starter.

Strong communication skills.
