This will be the number one time-saving, life-saving tip you can learn regarding your Amazon Webstore.
So, after a few hours of clicking product by product through the Seller Central interface, you begin to wonder if there is a faster solution to this soul depleating repetative task monster? Yes, there is! Let's get started!
Getting your Product Data:
2. Select Inventory > Manage Inventory
3. Under the Actions column, select all products. (The main checkbox at the top of the page will do this for you.)
4. Under the Actions dropdown select For All Selects: Export to File.
5. A pop-up window will appear with three multiple choices. Choose the "Product attributes" and select a general category to download the file template. Not every product has to fit into this category. It is just a basic guideline.
This will begin the download process. This download will be the excel template that you will fill out to upload back into Amazon Seller Central.
I would save this file in a business folder, because it will automatically save to your Downloads. As you work on the file, I would recommend saving each new version with the date behind it. For example "products_12-1-12". As this file grows, you appreciate having several old verisons, just in case you do something catastrophic to your file.
Filling out the information:
1. If you are not sure what all of the column names mean, there is a file that tells you.
2. Select Inventory > Add Products.
3. Below the search bar will be a link called "Upload an Inventory File"
4. This will take you to a very overwhelming page.. with lists and lists of templates.
Scroll down and choose the template that best describes most of your products.
5. Download the "Data Definition" file and save it in the same location as your new template file.
This file will give you the basic definitions of all of the columns in your template. It might be handy to either print this file, or keep it open in the background.
6. Save your final file in excel as a .csv file. If you are unsure of how to do this, search the help section of excel for "csv".
Uploading the File back to Amazon
1. Once you have completed filling out information for all of your products and are ready to upload it, go to Select Inventory > Add Products.
2. Below the search bar will be a link called "Upload an Inventory File"
3. In the Select and Upload your file section, click the Upload File button. Select your latest data file.
4. Choose Product Attributes in the dropdown and give the file a title. Click upload.
5. There may be a few errors, just go back to your file and make the corrections and upload again.
6. If you want to know the status of your product upload, you can also go to Inventory > Status Monitor to see how many products were changed.
