Some medieval books I may take inspiration from for my production bible.
This is the first draft of my title page for my production bible. Per feedback in my tutorial, I should try and move the text at the top so the king's silhouette isnt ruined. I will try and find a different position for it, without spoiling the overall composition.
Complete storyboard of my two minute film. This was a good way to fully plot out my film, rather than dive into an animatic, since I wanted my animation to be storybook inspired, so it helped to draw it like a book. I think I will also be using a similar colour palette to the one in my storyboard -- greys and only a few strong colours, to give my story an aged tone and makes the important characters more pronounced.
Architectural Studies.
Here, I studied some anglo-saxon housing, which is the appropriate time for when the Arthurian legend was set in. Though I'm going to take some liberties and use buildings from other centuries, I thought the triangle shaped housing would suit the city as the King's main form shape is a triangle too.
Turnarounds for both of my main characters
King Arthur & Mordred
For these, I really wanted to make two designs where they both contrasted each other, but also mirrored each other. I tried to achieve this by giving them shoulderguards on opposite shoulders, and for their swords to point the opposite way. Mordred is based off of softer, rounder shapes, but still retains a triangular face and a streak of grey, symbolising his lineage. I've given him the colour of gold, as a heroic and protagonistic type of colour, to make him stand out.
However, the King is based off of triangles, a very sharp and unforgiving shape. I've given him the colour of dark red, and its commonly interpreted in media that the flag of Camelot is red. As a war veteran, I made him very strong and intimidating, compared to Mordreds more athletic build, to emphasise his power.
A rough planout for my production bible, so I know what type of format and layout I want for my pages. I'm hoping to make it look quite old with accented text like from an old bible with decorations around the edges.
