48 | Tyrion & Jaimie

Childhood

"Jaime, come on you said you would." Jaime hears his brother's voice down the hall, and stops, closing his eyes. He sighs. Right, he thinks. The lesson.

He turns and is met with wide eyes and unruly blonde curls looking up at him in barely restrained excitement.

"Was that today?"

Tyrion nods, not easily distracted even for a seven year old. "You said that you'd teach me how to fight once father was away."

Jaime's lips thin. He remembered it well enough, he just didn't think that Tyrion would as well. But what else was he supposed to say to his little brother after another afternoon of children being horrible to him? He couldn't just stand by and watch as he was taunted and hurt.

He hesitates.

"You promised," Tyrion says, eyes narrowing.

"If I really wanted to help you, I'd teach you how to keep your mouth shut. But if you insist..." Jaime trails off, and starts walking down the corridor towards the practice area.

Behind him, Tyrion grins.
