I don’t know why this memory came back to me, but for some reason it pissed me off more now, when I’m older and more mature, than when I was a child.
As a child who did their own homework and projects, maybe with SOME help, but did them on my own, it pissed me off when children would come in with projects that their parents obviously did for them and would get full marks and I’d get like a 70%.
And for those of you like, well maybe it wasn’t obvious,
The specific instance I’m referencing was when there was a project I had in third grade to make your own homemade instrument.
I brought in a Kleenex box wrapped in construction paper with a paper towel middle on top and rubber bands on it.
A girl brought in a legit guitar made from scratch!
Made of wood with metal tuning pegs and a bridge that looked like it had been ordered in. A professional looking guitar!!
Before anyone suggests that she or her dad bought it, I know that her dad made it because I went to her house while it was in progress.
Then there was this whole ordeal with the presenting of my project, but that’s a story for another time.
