@evanave asked:
Evan is here for a New year's kiss at midnight ( for professor rumancek or any verse - boy wants that kiss xD )
I should apologize in advance for this. But waking the art history professor like this, well, there had to be some repercussions...
For context: The scene is meant to take place at a new year's party on campus. Evan is celebrating with his friends. The professor, who has avoided his student for quite some time, is present, not celebrating, but observing. At first.
The crowd was a sea of faces. Purple, green, red, yellow, blue lights dancing on their features. A rainbow of different and yet the same euphoric expression: carefree blissful oblivion. Like a thunderstorm captured in oils on the canvas: with each flashing of the lights, the moment frozen. Arms raised, bodies intertwined. The electric pulse of the music was the thunder at the heart of the storm.
A moment of visible silence. Just the fraction of that second before the numbers on the large screen turned from 11:59:59 to 00:00:00. Like the moment before breathing in. A deceptive peacefulness where all things seemed to know the parts they played in the whole picture.
A cacophony of faces, body parts, smiles, hugs, kisses, cheers, shapes matching and mismatching erupted. People moved so close, they formed a new body. A loud joyful thing alive with explosive energy. The music started, drowned by the joy of the crowd. All celebrating as one and all falling into fractions of a unanimous dissonance.
One single face stood out. It was part of the crowd. Smiling and cheering, drinking and laughing with them all. Closely entangled with others, and yet apart from the sea. The flashing light illuminated the features, the jawline outlined by a soft brush. Lips drawn with finest precision, the curving, looming of a smile. Eyes the color of the sky over the quiet sea drowning all and every detail surrounding as they turned into the direction of the observer.
A line, straight and steady, quickly drawn, the observer dove through the crowd. Determined, both hands gripped the face. Framed it. Pulling closer as if to view and take in all the details. But his eyes closed as lips lined up with lips. And melted into one another. The stormy sea of faces and bodies around them disappeared. Sounds and colors were washed away. Just one heartbeat and another dancing around each other, sketching the outlines of one being that was two entwined.
