Exactly. As I said in my response to the ask I just posted, the human/elf romance at least kinda works. It’s a bit cliche, since the man falls in love with the elf lady because she saved his life, but at least there’s some character depth for both of them. Plus, there’s some nice pathos because they can’t have children, and unlike the human/elf relationships in Tolkien, she has no way of sacrificing her immortality for him.
The other two relationships seem to just happen because the author felt like they had to. Especially since one of them forms from the dude kissing the girl without any foreshadowing of either’s feelings.
