Ten years ago, a gruesome string of murders ravaged Huajing City. The city's Behavioural Analysis Unit -- consisting of behavioural analyst Wu Xie, statistics genius Zhang Qiling, and homicide detective Wang Pangzi -- was tasked with the job of profiling and catching the serial killer. Instead of the truth, they found a quagmire of lies and intrigue. Suspicion fell on the least likely culprit, and a wrong was committed that sent far-reaching consequences through the lives of everyone involved. Now, there's been another murder. It could be a chance to right a decade-old injustice, or it could be a way to invite further catastrophe and solidify the triumph that evil celebrated in the past.

“My findings bring all the boys to the morgue.”
Xiazi is standing behind his desk, teeth clamped around the straw of a bubble tea cup. He’s wearing a wide, sardonic smirk, and glances around the collection of people gathered in the morgue like a circus trainer might surmise a group of monkeys.
In Xiazi’s defence, as far as Pangzi knows, this amount of breathing bodies being present down here is unusual. Even Supervisor Qi is here, wearing her uniform. Her hat is placed neatly on Xiazi’s desk.
“Please, do enlighten us,” she says. “I’m scheduled for a press conference in forty-five minutes.”
“Ah, straight to the masses, don’t let the news media wait. Very commendable.” Xiazi takes a last sip of bubble tea before he puts the drink aside. “Very well. Let’s start.”
He strides over to the body drawers. Pangzi tries to follow, but has to stop to avoid crashing into Wu Xie, whose narrow focus probably stems from the fact that, as little as Trainee Liu knew about what was going on, the one thing he could tell them was that it had something to do with Xiaoge. Wu Xie pounced on Xiazi the moment they got here, but didn’t manage to get anything out of him. Now he’s vibrating with tension, and Pangzi can’t blame him. His own heart is beating double-time.
