"I think that the best decision I have ever made was to change my career path. I was originally was majoring in chemical engineering because, all through high school, I was the smart girl. I graduated salutatorian, and I felt like that is what you do when graduate at the top of your class: you go into engineering, you make inventions that will change the world...But I have actually always wanted to be a teacher my entire life. So I got up one day, and I really thought about it and decided to change my major. So now I am working on my bachelors in chemistry and continuing on with a masters in STEM education."

“Outside of school, I’m involved in mentor programs. First Star Academy is a program that allows me to work with foster children and kids of poverty, which is something I’m extremely passionate about. I also work with a scholarship foundation called the Give Something Back Foundation, which provides scholarships and mentoring to help lower-income students make higher education a reality. This past summer, all of my kids received scholarships, so that’s something I’m very proud of.”
