The selection of winners for the Super Bowl
The road to the Super Bowl to stop in Detroit, and there are only four days until the Pittsburgh Steelers square off against the Seattle Seahawks. Both teams took very different paths to make it the last game of the season. The Pittsburgh Steelers (11-5) struggled early in the season but made a relentless drive at the end of the season to squeak into the playoffs with a wildcard spot. With three straight road games in the playoffs, which knocked out of the Cinncinati Bengals, the heavily favored Indianna Colts and the Denver Broncos to their sixth appearance in the great history of the franchise ahead. The Steelers plan to bring on another Vince Lombardi Trophy back home to Pittsburgh this weekend. Their opponents are the Seattle Seahawks, the unknown and underrated team in the NFL. Unlike their Super Bowl opponents, rolling through Seattle to the NFC with an outstanding 13-3 record. They earned advantage in doing the most loudest stadium in the NFL, Quest Field. The Seahawks won their first game since 1984, when they face a very tough Washington Redskins team survived to the NFC Championship game with the Carolina Panthers advance. Carolina was not a game for Seattle as they were destroyed 34-14, while Seattle its first Super Bowl trip in franchise history. It is a mystery why the Seahawks do not get much respect from the media and long-time football fans. They look to prove the doubters on Sunday by defeating the Steelers. Each team has advantages and weaknesses, his monumental who holds the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the game. I will break down and compare the two teams and give my understanding of who has the advantage: QUARTERBACKSBen RoethlisbergerThe Second year QB has truly become a leader for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Last season, Roethlisberger did not apply to big games Winther, because he could rely on his relentless running game to take by Jerome "The Bus" Bettis and Staley Deuce the brunt. This year, Big Ben has become more patient and precise with his passes. He is a big strong guy that can stay in the pocket without rattled by a menacing defensive pass rush. He can scramble for birdie when necassary, which makes it a very dangerous quarterback. Roethlisberger has above average arm strength to throw the deep may, if the offensive line gives him time adequete. The problem is that Ben Roethlisberger faces is inexperience in the big game. There is no doubt that he will be a great quarterback in the future for the Steelers, but the big question is whether he's nervous control on Sunday against a Seattle Seahawk intelligent defense. Matt Hasselback Hasselback has the most underrated QB in the NFL Pro Bowl history. The beginning of his career began in roller coaster fashion. Matt was often criticized for inconsistent play by the media for his, but has become one of the best QB's matured in the NFL this season. As Roethlisberger has Hasselback never the Super Bowl and the big game will be a test of his nerves. The NFC Pro Bowl signal caller is a real general. He has great vision, able to quickly scan the field and make the big play by on a consistent basis. Hasselback is not known for his scrambling abilities, but he has to move just enough speed in the pocket and away from blitzing defenders. Advantage: Both QB's have what they need to lead their teams to a Super Bowl win, but I think that NFL experience to be a key factor in this game. I give the nod to Matt Hasselback.RECEIVERSPittsburgh Steeler receiversIf there is a receiver in the NFL that the game plays with the mentality of a defensive player, it's Hines Ward. These six feet is 215 pounder the best blocking receiver in football defender always punished with key blocks every week. Ward is also one of the most reliable receiver in the league. He is the best deep threat, and teams their best chance for making big yardage in the air. Antwaan Randle El is due as a reliable No. 2 receiver. Randle El is the fastest receiver on the team. However, he is inconsistent and will need to step up big time to help his team on Sunday. The receiver, where it is to Cedric Wilson. In the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos, Wilson stepped up to make an important contribution in helping his team before the big game to make. Seattle Seahawks receiver Darrell Jackson and Bobby Ingram are reliable wide receiver for the Seahawks. Both have the ability to stretch defenses and open for big gains to get downfield. What they lack in size, makes large Jerramy Stevens and Joe Jurevicius up. The Seahawks have a lot of downfield targets and Shaun Alexander coming out of the backfield on passing plays. Advantage: Hines Ward is the most talented receiver on the field in the Super Bowl, but the Seahawks have more than one reliable receiver, can make plays downfield. I'm collecting them to have a good day. RUNNING Running BACKSSteelers BacksJerome Bettis need is home to Detroit, and no introduction when he steps on the field Sunday. The future Hall of Fame is located at the end of a great career move but still some gas in the tank on the body and make the tough birdie. Search for "The Bus" on the hard Birdie in the red zone to make and wear down the little Seahawk defenders. Willie Parker is a young home run hitter that can explode on any given game. He will likely be the starter is Bettis, but the two back shall in all cases the load. Seahawk Running BacksNo other NFL player has ever rushed more touchdowns (28) in a single season as Shaun Alexander. The NFL MVP has to make the rapid movements miss most of the defenders and runs back to Seattle for their star look in the trains to make a physical Pittsburgh defense. ADVANTAGE: If I have a backfield should choose between the two teams, it would be the Steelers running backs. Jerome Bettis and Willie Parker are a great combination of speed and power. Shaun Alexander is a great running back, but some effort against one of the meanest defenses in the NFL have. OFFENSIVE LINESteelers offensive line coach Russ Grimm, offensive line - an all-time great linemen and one of the "Hogs" for the Washington Redskins in the 80 years - has built a line that is built to punish defenders. They move the piles well and open holes big enough to run for a bus. Seahawks offensive line Walter Jones is perhaps one of the best offensive attacks in the league. He is very athletic for his size and powerful. Not many defenders get past him. Jones is a critical part of the offense, and he makes all other players at the side of it better. ADVANTAGE: The Steelers have the best backfield in my opinion and one of the biggest reasons is the big guys to the front. I like the Pittsburgh Steelers ranked offensive line in sunday.DEFENSEPittsburgh SteelersThe # 4 defense is one of the most vicious of the NFL. You access to every single game on purpose to destroy the ball carrier. Your passport rush is one of the best linebacker Joey Porter with the tip. Porter is a Pro Bowler get a good speed in backfield. He is also a pretty good cover man as well, jamming receivers at the line of scrimmage. Troy Palamalu is one of the best young defensive backs in the game. He has great speed and direction changes. Palamalu is very intelligent and he is able to read the opposing QB to make a great game for his team. Did I mention that he is a vicious hitter? Seattle Seahawks SeahawksThe have the sacks in the NFL. They are ranked # 17, but do not be fooled by the number. They are a fast and aggressive unit that is on speed and fitness to get up to the ball carrier. Led by rookie linebacker Lofa Tatupu undersized fly the Seahawks the ball in the hope of making sales. ADVANTAGE: The Seahawks are good, but the Steelers defense is better and the Mean Streak. FINAL PREDICITON: The Pittsburgh Steelers are the tougher team, but are looking for experienced Seattle team to open up the passing game with a healthy dose of Shaun Alexander. Do not be surprised if Matt Hasselback is the game MVP will be. The Seahawks struggle early, but later found their rhythm and won 31-17.
