#Tucson , #Arizona has one of the sweetest surviving #ArtDeco #gasstations . Originally a Shell Station, then a Union76 station, and since then a series of random small businesses. The soft serve shape on top is meant to be a #programmaticarchitecture for the drill used at the time to get to the oil. Sometimes this style is also referred to as #mimetic architecture. Los Angeles had a TON of this style back in the day. I even had the pleasure of attending a lecture on it at the @laplphotos , which was hosted by J. Eric Lynxwiler.
