Just a note that I have set up an account on Bluesky at duhragonball.bsky.social. I'm still figuring it out, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, but if you want to follow me there, you're more than welcome to do so.
I'm thinking of dialing back my Twitter usage, partly because I never really figured out what to do with Twitter in the first place. I've mostly used it as a way to keep up with people who aren't on Tumblr, and I've also found it a nice way to see a variety of fanartists. But Twitter's kind of a mess. I mean, it always was, but Elon Musk just made things worse, and not every time I look at my timeline I feel like half the stuff on there is unfamiliar to me. I don't feel like I can really cultivate my space there, if that makes any sense.
I'm not sure Bluesky would be any better about that, but it gives me a surrogate version of Twitter with fewer people on it, so maybe that's a partial answer. I suspect that what I need to do is keep the Twitter account that I have, but only use it to view the profiles of the people I follow, rather than try to navigate my own timeline.
It may sound kind of strange, but I find myself missing the old days when I would get on my computer and just run through several bookmarks on my browser, checking each website one by one to see if they posted an update. These dashboards and timelines are supposed to be a more convenient version of that, but it doesn't seem to be working these days.
Anyway, none of this should affect this blog, but I thought I should let you know in case Tumblr decides to shut down out of nowhere.
