I was thinking on the treadmill this afternoon that Russell Vought spent the 4 years between 2020 and 2024 writing Project 25. Why can’t we spend the next 4 years writing Project 29.  It would be the mirror image opposite of Project 25.

 Some thoughts I had on what Project 29 might contain:

Rewrite the US Constitution so that it is not based on protecting the property interest of wealthy White men but instead based on protecting thee rights of all people, not just land holders.

To prevent dictatorship which the current form of Presidency has always been, eliminate the office of the Presidency and replace it with a council comprised of a representatives of each of the 50 states.

Reverse the Citizen United 558 U.S. 310 (2010) Supreme Court Ruling allowing unlimited spending on campaigns by limiting the amount that any one person or organization can donate

If the Presidency continues, do away with the electoral college

Provide free health and dental care to all Americans

Increase the amount of Social Security monthly payments

Make homelessness and inner city poverty high priority funding candidates

Provide education on the dangers of Fasicm and suggest ways of preventing it from occurring.

Provide education on Trans, Gay and LBGT rights

Provide education on racism, its causes and how to deal with it. and prevent it.

Provide protection for free speech and protest

Project 29: Style Switch-Up: NPS.gov

Of all the websites I visit, government ones are among the worst. They’re incredibly information heavy in nature and don’t break it down into digestible sections as well as trendy tech and product pages do. I chose the National Parks Service because it’s the .gov I visit the most and being what they are, I knew they’d have a virtually unlimited amount of photos to use. Showing the beauty of the parks in a focused experience would help inspire the awe that I feel when meandering through them and hopefully drive people to travel to and have fun in the parks.

Project 29: Style Switch-Up - Roadway Signage

This was an interesting prompt. I’m a huge fan of music mashups and remixes, so I ended up having a lot of fun attempting to appropriate a current style to create a new look - a visual remix of sorts.

I decided to give our U.S. roadway signage a new look by applying the style of the NYC subway signage. I find it interesting that the two sign systems are serving a pretty similar purpose, but look completely different.

Project 29: Style Switch-Up - De Stijl + Brands

I decided I wanted to take the De Stijl style (popularized by Piet Mondrian) and reinterpret a half dozen current logos. It was an interesting exercise in minimalism and simplification to reduce these logos to satisfy the movement’s style.

Hope you like them and are able to pair the originals with the De Stijl interpretations! :D

Project 29: Style Switch up! AC/DC Edition

For this project I chose to redesign the POWERAGE album cover as three collectible covers using pop art! I started by simplifying the band’s logo and bringing the lightening bolt behind the type. I used electric colors to nod to pop art and to play well to the theme of the cover. On the main cover,you see electric cables that house the type which is done in a more disruptive and updated way from the original art work! I used halftone patterns and heavy, off set outlines from pop art trends then updated the colors to be more intense.

I love this project and I hope that you do too!

Project 29: Style Switch-Up - Art Nouveau Harry Potter

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good. I reimagined JK Rowlings Harry Potter book covers in Art Nouveau. I picked Art Nouveau, because the style focuses on natural forms such as plants, animals, and curved lines. These characteristics also lend itself well to themes and motifs in the Harry Potter stories. I enjoyed hand illustrating the covers and added the gold leaf embossment to make it feel unique and add a natural material to the design.

All was well.
