Thanks to the kind folks at Project Bones you can get "Brennan" from any season on your awesome charity-benefiting mug. From khaki jackets and flared trousers to maternity dresses and leggings, they're all up there just waiting for you to pick a favourite. Or you can just get them all. Whatever. Either way you'll get a great deal of satisfaction from sipping your coffee out of a mug that cost you less than $15 and is helping Project Bones rid the world of MS. Also someone buy me one.
These Bones themed Shoes are made for Walking – against MS
The darling ladies of Project Bones are at it again. After raising more than 5,000 Dollar in their last campaign for cancer research and the Shriners, this time around they intent to collect in 100 days 5,000 Dollars. All proceedings will go to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society that supports important research projects around the globe and provides much needed education, programs, and services to everyone who is affected by MS - including people living with the disease, their friends and families, and the healthcare professionals who work with them.
A team of Project Bones will participate in Walk MS 2012 Washington, DC, an event hosted by the National MS Society, on April 21. If you want to support them, you can donate money in the name of any of the team members (yes, I am one, though just virtually as DC will stay a dream right now). Or you can bid on these Bones themed shoes I created.
They are black canvas, Size 38 European or 7/8 US. They feature a hand-painted, original design along with the Bones logo and the words "Everything Eventually." They are literally a one-of-a-kind item exclusively for sale for the Project Bones auction. Bidding starts at $100 and 100% of the winning bid will go to the Project Bones WalkMS account. THIS IS NOT OFFICIAL FOX MERCHANDISE!
The auction is open till February 6, 2012. Go, bid!
Project Bones 2012
Those of you who've been following me a really long time might recognise this image - the original, crappily-photographed ink version was my display picture for a while. I've been meaning to colour it (and add season-seven-Brennan!) for ages now, and what finally prompted me to do it was april30lin inadvertently reminding me about Project Bones.
Project Bones is basically a movement to harness the power of a really, really huge fandom for good causes. They've done some great stuff in the past and this year they aim to raise $5000 (US) for the National MS Society in an effort to help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.
Here's how you can participate: Donate or join the Project Bones Walk MS team in Washington, DC in April OR head to the Project Bones CafePress store, where you can get all kinds of awesome stuff, including new designs by the very talented Lin (and hopefully soon a few things done by me). All profits count as a donation.
Spread the word, Boneheads! Cos everyone knows that fangirls get shit done. ;)
Project #BONES 100 Days $5000
I'm a big supporter of AIDS Walk, Relay For Life, Bark For Life, and the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walks in my hometown, as well as a Bones fanatic. I met the folks from Project Bones at the San Diego Comic Con Fans Gathering Dinner last summer and they do really great job of rallying up Boneheads together to make a difference. I wanted to take this time to tell you guys about 100 Days $5000. Below is Heather's post from the Project Bones forum:
Happy New Year, Bones Fans! Last year you helped us raise over $5,000.00 (US) for cancer research and the Shriners. This year we've started a team for WALK MS 2012 in Washington, DC on April 21st and over the next 100 days we hope to do the same thing. Multiple Sclerosis is a disease that affects not only members of our Bones community, but hundreds of thousands worldwide as well. Since DC is the setting for the show, it's the perfect location for those who wish to walk with us to join forces; knowing that walking is nowhere near as difficult as confronting a lifetime with multiple sclerosis. MS interrupts the flow of information from the brain to the body and wears away the control a person has over his or her body. When someone is diagnosed with MS, it can dramatically affect their future, their career, and their daily life. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society supports important research projects around the globe and provides much needed education, programs, and services to everyone who is affected by MS - including people living with the disease, their friends and families, and the healthcare professionals who work with them. Walk MS, hosted by the National MS Society, is a fun-filled event that brings friends, families, and coworkers together for a common cause. It will be held in six sites throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area on April 14, 15, and 21, 2012. Our team will be walking on April 21st. That's 100 days from the day we launched this team and we need YOUR help to get us to our goal! Follow Heather (Thnx4TheGum) on her personal page as she blogs through the days. READY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE? There are 3 ways you can join our team: as a walker, a volunteer or virtual participant! * Walker: Commits to walking in DC on the day of the Walk and raising money toward the team goal. You'll get a personal fundraising page and WalkMS will provide other resources to raise money. * Volunteer: The event won't run itself and there are plenty of things that can be done on-site on April 21st as a volunteer staff member if walking isn't your speed. * Virtual Participant: A Virtual Participant is someone who wants to be involved, but cannot attend the actual day of the event. Virtual Participants will still fundraise toward the team goal, but by that label of being virtual WalkMS then knows that they will not be attending the actual Walk. This is a perfect option for our friends in other countries! You can also visit a team member's page to make a secure online donation. Don't forget to talk to your employer about matching gifts or becoming an event sponsor. For more info on how to register or donate, head to our WalkMS page: Project Bones WalkMS And follow Gum's Blog: Gum's WalkMS Blog We chose this event because its scope is both local and international and because those of you far away can still participate. The idea is for each of us to reach out to our own families and friends for support while all working under the umbrella of Project Bones. There will be t-shirts we'll be selling to raise money as well as some more auctions, similar to what we did last year. We're looking forward to seeing what we can all accomplish together!
