2 January 2015: Project Colossi work begins
Over the past day and a half I started working on a few pieces for a new prototype I'm going to be making.
Basically I want to combine a few of my favorite games past and present and make the type of game I'd love to play and that I could be proud of.
W.I.P of a colossi head concept
One of the premises of this game will involve engaging giant beings, both mechanized and of more natural elements, but the outcome of these encounters has yet to be determined. Most of all I want this interaction to be fun, challenging, and meaningful.
That idea clearly borrows elements from a longstanding favorite game of mind from Team Ico, Shadow of The Colossus.
W.I.P. of player model holding a club mace
I also love the Monster Hunter series and how those games stress the importance of preparing or trying new things and having the right weapons for the right encounters. I want to bring a semblance of that style of game play to this idea as well.
Probably the single most ambitious part of this, and I'm not sure if I can feasibly do it but games are pretty damn fun if you can play them with another person, and I'd love to have a local coop option and maybe a leaderboard for some of the Colossi hunt situations.
Hunting with friends is more fun!
This is going to be a huge undertaking for me, so anyone, if anyone, who gets hyped over this please be patient with me: quality over expedition :)
I don't have a name for this concept yet, but I if I still like the concept after the prototype stage then I'll start thinking of one. For now this'll be called Project Colossi. If any of you have any name suggestions or game mechanic suggestions feel free to throw 'em at me!
