A darkness is spreading through Aerrameth. Women across the land are betraying their elemental gods and giving birth to demons intent on unleashing havoc on the world. When Lady Alisoun Bertrand is uprooted from her home in the Northern Wood and brought to the Capital, she finds herself in the thick of the mystery surrounding this darkness. A fire is lit within her, and she discovers the secret to Aerrameth’s salvation through a harrowing series of battles, alliances, and betrayals. It soon comes to light that Aerrameth’s worst fears are realized: the gods are at war.

Lady Alisoun Bertrand

“You told me this son was mine!” Lord Bertrand yelled furiously. “All the while, you were growing this… this THING!”

Alisoun’s mother let out a loud sob again, shaking as she sank to the floor. Her frail body was covered in blood, sweat, and a thick, black substance. Alisoun’s eyes traced the line of the black sludge from between her mother’s legs to a dark form that lay on the floor across the room. The shape twitched, then fell back still.

“You will burn for this,” Lord Bertrand said in a quiet rage. “I won’t tolerate treachery, not even from the woman I love.”

Lady Alisoun Bertrand was ten years old when she was deemed the daughter of a traitor. Her mother, like so many women in Aerameth, sinned against the gods. As punishment for her transgression, she gave birth to a demon. She was publicly executed, as all traitors in Aerrameth are, leaving Alisoun to grow up with a cursed name.

When her father sends Alisoun to the Capital seven years later in an attempt to clear the family’s tainted reputation, she finds herself in the center of the darkness overtaking Aerrameth. Will she uncover the truth about her mother’s betrayal? Or will the gods offer her an even worse fate as they prepare for war against their transgressors?

The teens of Lordran don't have a lot to work with for pranks seeing as the orange soapstone only has pre-written phrases.

(I know Vinheim is not IN Lordran but its much easier to phrase ti this way for a joke)

Tonight, I left off with this paragraph on my WIP... It’s part of the first draft of the 3rd chapter. I’m posting this because I want to come back and see how this particular passage changes later. I know I weave in and out of past and present tense and some sentences definitely need rewriting. What I love the most though is how in love I am with the direction of the scene and this entire story.

For context, she’s using nicknames (Sunshine & Night) because she doesn’t know their names yet.

“She gives them doe eyes in an attempt to throw them off. she knows there is only one reason why she’s here. She hacked something she shouldn’t have and this is revenge. It was clear that Sunshine wasn’t expecting her to be a woman though and it has definitely made some complications for his gloomy friend. At least that was her bet.

Sunshine reaches for her face and it makes her jump before she realizes he’s reaching for the mouth guard that was there to keep her from biting her tongue. She sighs at the comfort of having the intrusive object removed and generously gulps down the bottle of water he hands her. She can’t help but wonder how many times he’s done this before. As she slowly lowered the bottle she looked at his hands and wondered if they were stained with blood she couldn’t see. If hers would touch them next. Or was that Night's job?“

Remember, no one writes a perfect first draft. The most important thing you can do is get the story out. You can always fix it later.
