I have just under 8000 tumblr drafts. It didn't used to be this bad. I used to have a stable 3000 there.

Usually I post on Tumblr through the queue, which I do my best to curate and I try to find a balance between my current obsession, obsessions of old, things I've always loved and will probably love forever, and random awesome stuff I ran into on my feed.

This worked for a long time, until New Xkit broke and I lost my bundled tags, and there was a lot of wank so I became less talkative. So I stopped queueing, but didn't stop collecting posts for my drafts. Hence the current 8000 drafts predicament. (Happy to report Xkit rewritten also has bundled tags, so yay)

My current oldest draft is from 2017. That's 10 years worth of interests. (I'm a little sad I finally ran out of old Shadowhunters posts saved.) I have a list of bookmarks of my drafts, so I can access various points in time on my drafts. It used to be 10 bookmarks, it's about 34 now, and my laptop suffers if I open them all at once. But it's been a great way to access old drafts.

When I get into something, I become obsessive and want to save allllll of the posts. This accounts for a lot of the drafts. It's fandoms I loved that I still love, but had to many posts saved for. There's a couple of fandoms that I loved but broke up with, for which I still run into drafts for. There's shows I watched the first season and then never started again, but still planned to, so I saved all the posts for later seasons as well.

And then there are shows or movies that look pretty or interesting and that I'm convinced I'll love, so I go and check them out and then before I know it I have a couple of hundred drafts saved and still haven't watched the thing.

Basically I use my drafts as a to watch list. A huge archive of things I might love.

But the recent outage has made me think that well, at some point Tumblr is going to die. And I'll have no way to access these things that mutuals recced to me or things that caught my interest. So, maybe I should try and actually watch some of those things? Make a list of them and decide whether I actually want to watch them?
