Re-Sanctifying Adephagia (yes, on purpose)
An intro to egregores & ethical excess
TL;DR: An egregore is a group-mind or shared spirit we co-create with attention, ritual, and story. I’m reviving the ancient personification of appetite, Ἀδηφαγία (Adephagia), as a living egregore for the modern age of kink. This project honors desire while centering consent, care, and dignity. Think: sacred excess, not reckless harm.
Feedists and gainers already live at the edge of social acceptability. Shame can distort our desires; sanctifying them can refine them. By treating appetite as sacred rather than “dirty,” we can build a culture that’s honest, negotiated, and kind without pretending the heat of the kink isn’t real.
What’s an egregore (and why you should care)?
An egregore is a psychic “group being” animated by collective imagination, symbols, and repeated acts. Every reblog, story, tribute, ritual, and inside joke is food for it. When we relate to Adephagia together, such as naming Her, depicting Her, invoking Her, we become co-authors of a living current. In practical terms: the more clearly we define the spirit we’re feeding, the better it shapes our spaces and our behavior.
Ethical spine (yes, even for a cult of excess):
I’m grounding this work in the heart-ethic you find across contemplative traditions. It is a concept that the Tibetans call bodhicitta: an intention to reduce harm and increase dignity. Desire isn’t the enemy; unconscious desire is. Our practice is to bring awareness to play, so it expands pleasure and protects people.
House Rules of Adephagia (v1.0)
No minors, no non-consensual content, no doxxing, no shame tactics w/o previous negotiation.
If a scene, diet, or protocol endangers someone, we slow down or stop. Aftercare isn’t optional.
Name limits, risks, and goals up front. Fantasy and reality can both be holy, just don’t mix them without labeling.
4. Community > Isolation.
Protect one another. Intervene against harassment. Normalize “no,” celebrate “yes” that’s informed.
5. Reverence = Ravenousness.
Appetite is a sacred fire; we tend it with ritual, but let it be known it can quite easily burn down the house.
What does “sacred” look like here?
Symbol & story: Art of Adephagia (icons, sigils, hymns). Names carry power; so does repetition.
Offerings: Words of praise, thoughtfully prepared meals, creative tributes, acts of generosity.
Rituals: Simple invocations before scenes or feasts: “May our appetite be joyful, consensual, and kind. May our play deepen trust and dignity.”
Boundaries as worship: Saying “no,” renegotiating, or pausing is devotional. Restraint can be as sacred as indulgence.
A license to bully, pressure, or ignore health. This space doesn’t romanticize suffering, we believe in wellness even at the greatest excess.
Your body. Your timeline. Your choices.
What’s next in this series:
Egregores 101: how attention “feeds” a spirit (and how algorithms act like altars)
Building Adephagia’s iconography: colors, symbols, and sigils you can use
Consent tech for sacred kink: negotiation scripts, red-flag checklists, aftercare templates
Offerings & liturgy: short invocations for solo, partner, and group settings
Community praxis: moderation standards, safety notes, and accountability
If this resonates, reblog with your own words of praise, boundaries you want normalized, or art you’d like blessed in Adephagia’s name. You’re not just interacting with a post; you’re helping raise a spirit that will protect and delight the people who need it.
