[XX.07.2025][7:21PM]
[We cut to a door. As it swings open and slams onto a concrete wall, we see Alter emerge from it, immediately tripping and almost falling down on to the concrete floor, but quickly catching his balance.]
[He turns around, running up to the door with the intent to close it, but was too late as 3 zombies bolt into the room. All 3 unarmed, with white glowing pupils atop the blackened eyes.]
Oh for fuck's sake!
[One of the zeds runs towards Alter at surprising speeds and attacks him, swinging at him with its bare hands, Alter ducks under the attack, and then promptly upper-cuts the zed with his G17.]
[After which he fired his gun at the zombie's head, succesfuly landing all shots, bursting it's head open and shooting the remains of its head, killing it in the process.]
[Another zed rushed at Alter from the side, swinging at him with its hands, Alter side-steps to the back, evading the swing, then driving the heel of his right foot into its right knee, making it collapse onto its left knee. As he turns to the right he sees the third zed running at him, but couldn't react fast enough when it slammed into him, both of them crashing onto the floor, the zed landing ontop of him.]
AH SHIT!--
[Alter jams his right forearm under its throat, trying to get it off as it tries to bite him, but it pushes even harder.]
Get the FUCK off'a me!
[Alter manages to push the zed off him with his right foot, pushing it to the left, he then gets up on his feet faster than the zed could. He holsters his G17, and then unslinging his Halligan Bar. By the time he did that, the zed just recovered and got back up on its feet.]
Bring it on, fuckers.
[The zombie runs up to Alter, swinging its claws at him from below, Alter deflects the attack, then shoves the zombie back. Before Alter could make his move, the other zombie, which was very much alive and kicking, swung at him from the left, Alter couldn't react, the zombie landed the hit.]
[The hit was relatively weak, but it still hurt. Alter turns to the left, just when the same zombie swings at him again, he side-steps to the left, evading the attack, then swings his Halligan Bar at the zombie, wedging the Adze of he Halligan Bar into the zombie's skull with a sickening crack.]
[He pulls the Adze off the zed with his foot, tearing off a piece of the zed's skull in the process. It's dead on the spot.]
[The last zed, the same one Alter shoved back, recovered and is back on its feet, it runs up to Alter swinging at him its hands, Alter ducks under, then shoves the again with the Halligan Bar, this time, knocking it off its feet. Before it could get up, Alter places his right foot on its chest, lifting the Halligan Bar up...]
[Then swinging it downward, piercing its skull with the Adze, killing it in the process. He pulls the Adze off of it, tearing off a piece of its face too.]
[Taking a second to catch his breath, his view instantly switches to the door that he came from, which is still open. Alter slings his Halligan Bar, running up to the door, closing it, then locking the latch. He then leans against the door, catching his breath.]
...
Okay...
[He turns around, his back leaning against the door.]
Now, then...
How do I get outta here..?
[He gets up, looking around. The room that he is in appears to be a sort of central sewage reservoir. There's 3 big-ass tunnels. One on the left, one in the middle, and one on the right. Then there's a sort of structure above Alter's head, with a metallic staircase on the left leading up to it.]
This looks important.
[So he walks up to the staircase, despite the fact that it's so rusted to the point that it could collapse at any given moment, he stills climbs it up. At the top of the structure, there's an office pod. Alter walks up to the door of the office pod, pulling the door handle to see if it's unlocked, no joy.]
Locked. Ofcourse.
[The office pod thankfuly has windows, so Alter peeks inside it, but it doesn't make it any easier, the windows are boarded up too much, that he can barely see shit. However he does catch a glimpse of what looks like a map of the sewers, but he still couldn't make out what's on the map.]
Gotta get in there somehow...
[Alter takes a look around. That's when he noticed that on the right is a text written in blood.]
"Mein Körper mag bleiben, aber meine Seele wird frei sein"
[There's also bloody footprints on the metallic floor.]
...Creepy...
[He follows the footprints, it goes down the staircase. And then it leads to the leftmost sewer tunnel.]
Oh what the fuck, dude...
*Inhale...*
*Exhale...*
Okay...
Well, whoever wrote that must have the keys...
[And so he steps into the sewage water, walking through the tunnel.]
Oh the smell is horrible...
---***---
[So after a good few minutes of walking down the tunnel through ankle-high liquified filth, with the flashlight mounted on his G17, he stops walking as he saw something rather disturbing...]
[And I shit you not, that is one fat motherfucker.]
Jesus christ...
[And this fat zombie is standing next to a mutilated corpse of what seems to be the sewer maintenance worker. The fat zombie turned around and saw Alter. And without warning, it started charging at him.]
[And fires 2 shots at it before his gun ran out of ammo.]
God damn it..!
[Those two shots only enraged the fat zed, charging at Alter faster then attempting to grab him, Alter ducks under the grab, shoving the fatass zed back a few steps. He holsters his G17, and unslings his Hallgan Bar. When the fat zed charges at him again, he swings the Halligan Bar...]
HRRAAAAH!
[CRACK! SPLASH!]
[...wedging the Pick into the fat zombie's left side of its bald head, pushing it downward and pulling the pick out, before swinging upward once more...]
RRAAAH!!
[CRACK!!]
[...and wedging the Adze into its skull. Alter pulls it off the zed, tearing off a chunk of its skull.]
[Alter takes a moment to catch his breath...]
...Ugly fuck...
[Then the next moment, a sound is heard from the far end of the tunnel.]
...
..?
[...]
[...]
[...]
[...]
[...]
[...]
[Then, a blood-curdling scream is heard from the far end of the tunnel. That doesn't sound good.]
Oh fuck...
[The scream sent Alter into panick, as he runs up to the mawled corpse, searching it, and eventually finding a metal key ring, with a bunch of keys attached to it.]
> 1 | KEY RING
Yes..!
[He pockets the key ring, turns to the light source, the same way he entered the tunnel from, and started running.]
[There's splashes heard from behind Alter, and one thing for sure is that those splashes are getting closer...]
[Just when he thought he won't make it, he managed to get to the tunnel's exit, the same place he entered from, and he goes up the staircase to the office pod. Reaching it, and out of breath, he pulls the key ring out, panicked like a cat, he fumbles through the keys.]
C'mon c'mon c'mon, where the fuck is the office key??!
[He then spots a golden key with paper taped onto it, labled "BÜRO".]
YES!
[He jams the key into the door's lock, turning it counterclock-wise, pulling it out, and then shouldering it open with a]
[BOOM!]
[By the time he got into the office, a lot of zombies rushed into the reservoir, looking for the cause of the noise. Alter darts his eyes across the room, finding a light switch, flicking it off and closing the door without making a noise, then flipping the door lock slowly enough until it clicks. Then lays flat on the carpeted floor, praying for dear life...]
[As he was hiding, he heard the unholy screams and the spits pf fury of the zombies, anger and shouting that genuinly sound like it came from their deepest cores of malice...]
[...]
[5 minutes in.]
[...]
[15...]
[20...]
[...]
[The sounds have ceased.]
[...Alter slowly gets up, then peaks through the boarded windows.]
[...No zombies in sight.]
...Thank god...
[Realising that turning the light back on would be risky, he resorts to the flashlight mounted on his empty G17.]
[The light pierces tha darkness, as Alter looks around the room, he finds the map of the sewers. Hung up on a wall in a metalic frame.]
Oh hey... Almost forgot about you...
[He walks up to the map, examining it thoroughly. One particular detail caught his eye. Specifically that one mark where he thinks the surface access could be at.]
There it is... okay, might aswell just...
[He reaches into his pockets and pulls out his phone. Surprisingly enough, it survived the crash landing with only the screen having scratches and it thankfuly turns on too. But here's the problem:]
9% 🔋
Oh god damn it, did I forget to charge it again..?
...Well, not like it matters anymore...
[He takes the photo of the map, turning his phone off and then putting it back in his pocket.]
Alright. While I'm here, I might aswell look for anything useful.
Let's see here...
[Okay. Desk. What do we have? Framed photos, paperwork, lamp, glass ashtray, pens and pencils, and... what's this? A diary sits on the desk, the cover has some specks of blood.]
?
[Curiousoty kills the cat, as Alter opens the diary, wondering what could be on it. Okay, well, here's something. Though it's all written in German.]
———
———
...
[He leaves the diary open.]
Okay... What else? What else is there..?
[Then begins searching the drawers.]
[Okay, junk, junk, papers, more junk, stationary... oh hey. One of the drawers has an Adrenaline stim.]
Sweet.
[He takes the Adrenaline stim, pocketing it.]
> 1 | ADRENALINE STIM
[...Well, that's the entire room searched, and that's all he could find. With that in mind, Alter proceeds to open the office door slightly, checking for any dangers. It's clear. He then exits the office pod, and heads down the staircase.]
[Now, according to the map, his best bet would be to take the tunnel on the middle.]
Okay... Well, here goes nothing.
[And he sets off to find the surface access.]
---***---
[Alright, let's say it's been a good while of walking through the tunnel. Again. Except here's the difference, instead of seeing another fatass zombie, Alter spots a corpse, a conveniently placed one really, resting against a wall. The corpse has black digitial camouflage uniform, and the same gear that he saw on the guys back at the hospital. Looks like he bled to death.]
Ah shit...
[He goes up to the corpse, inspecting it up close.]
Poor bastard.
[Upon even closer inspection, he notices: the fallen soldier has a backpack on him and another gun slinged on it, which is a shotgun. Alter has come to a decision to yoink the backpack with the shotgun off the dead guy.]
You won't be needing that anymore...
[He then unzips the backpack, checking its contents.]
[Jackpot.]
[Alter puts the backpack on, his Halligan Bar now propperly slinged.]
Thanks, dude.
[Alter unholsters his G17 with intention to reload it now that he has ammo.]
[After replacing the mag with a new, loaded one, and pulling the slide, sending the round to the chamber, he holsters his G17, and unslings the shotgun, which is a Beretta A300 Ultima.]
Okay let's see here...
[The gun appears to be in good condition. He pulls the charging handle slightly, checking the chamber. It's loaded. What about the tube? He pushes his left hand's thumb into the loading breach, then feeling the pressure on the tube.]
[7+1/7]
Amazing.
[He pulls the thumb out of the loading breach, slinging the Beretta A300.]
Alright.
[And so he keeps going.]
[And after about a minute or so, Alter sees 3 zombies standing still. Doesn't look like they've spotted him yet. Alter still unslings his Beretta A300.]
Ofcourse...
[Alter slowly approaches the 3 zeds, pre-aiming his Beretta A300 at them. One of the zed's heads snapped towards him.]
[The zed turned fully toward Alter, letting out a blood curdling scream. The rest of the zeds turned toward him, and the moment all of them have seen him, they broke into a sprint.]
[Alter aims his Beretta A300, letting them get close enough, then...]
[...Fires one shot at the first zombie's head, one dead. Two shots and the second, the first to its shoulder then its head. Two dead. The third one got too close, but Alter shoves it back with his Beretta A300's stock, aiming it again at the third zed, then firing the shot at its head. all three dead. Taking the time he has, he places his shotgun over his shoulder, reaching into his backpack and pulling 4 shells out of it, loading them into the shotgun using the quadload technique. then reshoulder the gun. It wasn't long enough before another 2 came at him.]
Oh goodie..
[The zombies are running towards Alter, he aims his shotgun once more...]
[...The first shot went to the first zombie's head, its head burst open and is dead on the spot. The second shot goes to the zombie's leg, ripping it off and knocking the zombie off its feet, but the zombie remains alive and is now crawling toward Alter. When it got close enough, he stomped its head in, then firing at it the third time, killing it for real.]
[Out of breath, he scans the enviroment, looking for any other zeds...]
Anyone else..? No?
...Good.
[He slings his Beretta A300 again. Focusing on getting the hell out of here, he continued his walk.]
---***---
[Took him quite a while(again), turning many corners and entering sewer tunnels that increasingly had more filth and garbage. At one point, he enters a pipe, and after walking through it a good bit, he saw a marking on the wall that is written in printed letters:]
OBERFLÄCHENZUGANG 3 - 8 →
[...Hoping for the best, he followed the arrow, and to his relief, he saw a ladder that leads to a manhole.]
Oh thank fuck, finally...
[He approached the ladder and started climbing it.]
Get me the fuck out of here...
[When he reached the top, he pushed his hand against the manhole lid...]
[...And just like that, he managed to lift the lid up, and pushing it to the side, allowing him to climb out onto the streets.]

[XX.07.2025][6:42PM]
[Somewhere in Germany.]
[So here we are. We're looking at the skies, at just about the right angle where we can still see buildings and the ground. And among the sounds of footsteps and gear rustling...]
[...Along with the sound of puddle water splashing, we can hear the sounds of helicopter rotor blades spinning. And it turns out that there actually IS a helicopter in the sky.]
[So we now cut view to inside of the heli. There's two Toppat Clan members here, one being the pilot of the heli(no it's not Charles Calvin), the other is the man himself, Kyle "Alterrune" Cross.]
Toppat Pilot: I think I see it. This rain isn't helping though.
I see it too. ...looks like a ghost town down there.
...
Toppat Pilot: Man, just being here is making my skin crawl. Remind me, why are we here again?
Because, see, something here doesn't quite add up, and if you know me, I'm not leaving without answers.
Toppat Pilot: ...This is a bad idea, Alter. We should just turn back while we still have fuel.
Yeah, tell me something I don't know. Just keep us steady.
...
...Hey, look, I think I see someone down there.
Toppat Pilot: Survivors? No way.
Maybe. Take us down. I wanna see if they can answer some questions for us.
Toppat Pilot: ...You're kidding, right? You want me to land in the middle of a hot zone??
Dead serious.
Toppat Pilot: Alter, even if that is a person, they're most likely a scav or--or a civilian who lost their marbles. What are they gonna tell us?
Look, every bit of information counts, so just take us down, alright?
Toppat Pilot: ...*Sigh*... Okay Fine. But if things go south, we're pulling out immediately.
[The Heli jolts violently to the side, alarms begin to blare]
Toppat Pilot: Oh shit!
What?? What's happening?!
Toppat Pilot: I'm losing response, hydraulics are gone!
[The Heli begins a tilt, losing altitude rapidly, following the blaring alarm sound]
Toppat Pilot: Shit, we're going down!
Do something, We're gonna crash!
Toppat Pilot: I'M TRYING! IT'S NOT RESPONDING!!
DAMN IT!
[The Heli keeps falling down, ground level is getting closer]
Toppat Pilot: HANG ON, I THINK I GOT IT, ALMOST GOT IT-- NOPE, NO, I DON'T GOT IT, I DO NOT GOT IT AT ALL.
SO WHAT DO WE DO?!
Toppat Pilot: HOLD ONTO SOMETHING!!
[CRASH!]

...
Ugh... What...?
[Alter wakes up, slumped forward, inside the wreckage of the helicopter. The seatbelt held him. His ears are ringing though.]
[The first thing he does is try to inhale deeper, but is instantly met with sharp stabbing pain through his side.]
Ah... shit...
[He reaches to his side with his hand, pressing it lightly against the ribs. ...That's blood.]
Oh... great...
[Yeah. He's got blood on his suit. ...Wait, what am I even on about? That's the least of his concerns now.]
[Well anyways, the ringing in his ears slowly fade, and it's now replaced by the sound of crackling fire from somewhere behind him.]
[Alter lifts his head up slightly, immediately wincing, as he looks around and tries to get his shit together. There's bent metal and glass shards all around.]
David...?
[David, who was the pilot, does not respond.]
Fuck...
[Alter then begins to fumble at the seatbelt buckle, hands shaking, trying to get the belt off. Problem is, the thing's jammed slightly following the crash.]
C'mon, c'mon...
[His fingers slip. Another wave of pain goes through him. He's gritting his teeth now.]
Don't... fffucking... do this to me.. now...
[He takes a shallow breath, and then just forces his thumb into the release. It comes out with a]
[CLICK!]
[The seatbelt's off, Alter immediately drops forward, awkwardly catching himself against the bent metal and glass.]
Agh..! Fffffuck...!
[Alter freezes as he waits for the pain to settle. Except it only dulls.]
Okay... I'm still alive, so that's a start...
[Alter, pats around his side, looking for his holst- oh there it is.]
[Alter pulls his G17 out of the holster, checking it for any fuckups.]
[The mag is slightly loose. He pushes it in, and then does a press check. Round's chambered in, ready to fire.]
Okay, good...
...
I gotta patch myself up...
[Alter looks around the wreckage, in search for a first aid kit. ...There it is. Well, what's left of it anyway.]
Fuck... okay... this'll be harder than I thought...
[Alter then tries to get up. Which he succeeds in, except he basically forced himself on his feet. He then turns to what used to be the door, which is now warped open. And then he drags himself forward. When he reached the door, he pulls himself out of there and immediately stumbles onto the wet ground outside. And it just happened to be still raining outside.]
Fucking hell...
[He forces himself up again. And then looks around. ...Nobody's in sight.]
Okay... I gotta move...
[And so he goes on his way to find something to patch his injuries.]
---***---
[So it's been a hot few minutes--maybe more--of Alter wandering through the city, and to be frank, he doesn't know what city he's even in. But no matter, he keeps navigating himself through the streets filled with empty cars, police barricades, leaves skittering across wet asphalt and whatnot.]
Jesus this place is miserable...
[Another minute of walking. He sees something on the ground. ...He goes up there to take a closer look. And... Oh god.]
[It's a corpse. Speared to death. Except something is extremely wrong with it...]
...What in the hell happened here...?
...
Well, it doesn't matter now... I gotta get moving...
[Alter goes on, leaving the corpse behind. Still, something about it didn't feel right...]
...
[Okay, 5 more minutes later, just when Alter thinks he wouldn't make it, he sees something in the distance. A blocky structure.]
Is that a..?
[Yes. Yes it is. It's a hospital.]
Holy shit, Thank goodness... Guess I'm not dying after all...
[Alter starts making his way towards the hospital. Took a few seconds to reach the hospital's campus, after which he makes his way towards the hospital's entrance.]
Please let there be something...
[When he made it to the hospital's entrance, the first thing he notices is that the doors are slightly ajar. He pushes through the doors as they creak softly. Alter then stumbles onto the ground. Again.]
Ah... Shit...
[Now here's some other things. Emergency lights are on, but are dim. There's some pools and smears of blood mixed with some kinda... black substance..? There's also some broken glass.]
Oh god...
[Alter forces himself up on his feet once more.]
[Oh, and, there's also some randomly parked wheelchairs.]
[And strangely enough, there's not a single soul here. Nobody. There's not even a single body here.]
What the fuck...?
[Alter begins navigating through the hospital, walking through the hallways with some IV stands beside empty beds, blood smears on walls with some small blood pools near doors, and whatnot]
Where the hell is everyone..?
[He keeps walking through the hospital hallways, while accompanied by occasional sounds like distant metallic shuffling, wind sneaking through broken windows, loose doors gently tapping, and etc. Until eventually, he finds what looks like a treatment room. He enters said room, and he's in luck. It is infact, a treatment room. Cabinets are partially open, and luckily enough, supplies are still there.]
Yes...! Jackpot...
[Firstly, he sets his G17 down on the desk. Then he grabs a bottle of wound cleaning antiseptic and some bandages, and then sits down on a chair next to a desk.]
[So first we gotta clean the wound. Alter firstly unbuttons his shirt for easier access to the wounds on his side. Then grabs the bottle of wound cleaning antiseptic and takes the cap off.]
Okay...
[Then he straight up pours the antisepctic over the wound. Hurts like hell but does the job right.]
D-Agh, shhhhit..! Agh... Fuck...
...
[Having cleaned the wound, Alter sets the antiseptic aside.]
C'mon... Can't die now...
[He then grabs the bandages, and wraps them around the wounds tightly. And that takes care of that.]
*Phew*... Okay...
[So he buttons his shirt back up. And then he picks his gun up. And right after he stood up, a metallic clatter echoed from the hallway.]
...What the hell..?
[He makes his way toward the doorway, peaking out through it. He sees a figure standing in the hallway. Back turned, completely still. Well, aside from small idle movements, he doesn't seem to be taking any steps.]
[...And they have a machete in hand.]
No way... Hello?
...
Sir?
...
Sir, put the machete down and turn around... Slowly...
...
Do you hear me..??
...
Don't make me repeat myself...
[...Alter starts slowly approaching the person. When he's in sufficient distance, he reaches out to the figure with his hand, slowly.]
[The person quickly turns around and looks at Alter. The person is covered in some black substance mixed with blood, pair of darkened empty eyes staring down at him. Their skin pale.]
AH! HOLY SHIT!
[Alter stumbles back, almost losing balance. He raises his gun at the person, which begins approaching him at a steady pacing, their movement stiff and robotic.]
[Alter takes aim for the person's head, as he pulls the trigger...]
[The shot pierced through their skull, spraying their blood everywhere yet they havn’t ceased movement at all. Matter of fact, they're approaching faster now.]
What the fuck?!
[Just when the person got close enough, Alter shoved them away. He aims at the person's head once more.]
[2 more shots go straight for their head. Well, what's left of it anyway. Blood spraying everywhere. the person drops dead like a doll on strings.]
...What the fuck was that...??
...
No. No, fuck this, I'm getting the fuck outta here!
[Alter turns around and backtracks to the entrance of the hospital, and about half-way to the entrance,]
[BAM!]
Oh, jesus!
[A door of a room is kicked open, and a zombie walks out into the hallway. This one has a lead pipe now. And it's missing its jaw and half of the head. When it saw Alter, it begins approaching him while also staring directly at him. Alter raises his gun, aiming at the zombie's head.]
[BANG! BANG! CLICK!]
Shit!
[He managed to land 2 headshots before his gun got a stovepipe. The zombie's mere centimeters away and takes a swing at Alter with the pipe.]
[Alter sidesteps to the back, evading the zombie's attack. He then shoves the zombie back with enough force to knock it off its feet.]
[Alter, taps his gun's mag, racks slide, clearing the stovepipe, then walks up to the zombie which is lying on the floor.]
[BANG! BANG! BANG!]
[He landed 3 headshots, bursting the zombie's head open and shooting the exposed flesh, killing it in the process.]
God damn it...
[Alter resumes his path to the hospital's entrance. When he gets there, he hears unknown voices.]
???: It came from here. Search the building.
Oh shit..!
[Alter takes cover near a wall. There's a squad consisting of four unknown soldiers near the front door of the hospital.]
??? 2: Footprints look fresh. Someone has definitely been here.
??? 4: Probably still is. Eyes peeled.
Great... just fantastic...
...
Okay... Gotta think... Think...
[With the soldiers at the front door, that way is out of the question. Emergency exits aren't a good option too. Who knows, there could be more soldiers scouting outside]
???: Spread out. Search the corridors.
??? 2: Yep.
??? 3: Verstanden.
...Yeah, no, I'm not dealing with this.
[Alter backs away from the wall, as he tries to make a run for a hallway, but in the process of doing so]
[CRK.]
Shit..!
[..He stepped on some broken glass.]
??? 2: I got something.
God damn it..!
???: Infected?
??? 2: Maybe. Gonna check it out.
[One of the soldiers begins approaching Alter's position.]
What do I do, what do I do...
...
Fuck it.
[Alter makes a run for it down the hallway, clutching his side.]
[Alter turns a corner, nearly slipping on a smear of blood, but catching himself against the wall.]
Jesus!
??? 2: He went over there!
[While running, Alter quickly turns to the first room he sees with an open door, entering it then easing the door almost shut.]
[Through the narrow gap, he sees the four soldiers run by, not noticing him entirely. This allows Alter to catch his breath.]
C'mon now... just pass through...
??? 3: Where the fuck is he? Do you see him?
??? 2: Fuck. No, I lost him.
??? 4: He could in here somewhere. Check the rooms, find him.
??? 3: Got it.
Oh, come on...
[Footsteps begin to fade, and they're now replaced by the rhythmic "click-clack" sounds, and then the sound of doors being kicked open further down the hallway.]
Talk about being thorough...
...
Fuck it. I'm taking my chances.
??? 2: Clear!
[Alter opens the door of the room he's in a bit, scouting out the surroundings. There's another hallway. He can use it to his advantage while the soldiers are busy clearing out farther rooms. And speaking of which, they just moved onto a room closer to him.]
Okay... Let's do this...
??? 2: Breaching.
[As soon as the squad kicks down another door, Alter runs out of the room and into another hallway.]
???: Hey! HEY! RIGHT THERE!
[Alter turns a corner to the left, in a split second he saw a sign on the ceiling that said:]
>>> KELLER / BASEMENT
[And luckily enough there was a door to a stairwell, he dives into there, ramming into the door shoulder-first, he then uses the stairwell to hide from the soldiers. Beams of flashlights sweeping the halway he was standing in just 4 seconds ago.]
...
*Phew...* Alright...
[Now then, with the soldiers off his tail, Alter goes down the stair, and sees a metal door, ehich presumably leads to the basement.]
Basement. This'll do.
[But there's a problem, when Alter tries opening it, he finds that it is chained shut.]
...Ofcourse...
[When inspecting the chain, it's revealed that the chain is secured by a combination padlock. Doesn't appear to be civilian-grade. No way in hell would smacking it open work.]
...Yeah, no, I don't have time to look for a combination.
[Alter looks back up the stairs, thinking of a sollution.]
Alright... There's gotta be a maintenance area somewhere around here, right? Could be something in there.
[He goes back up the stairs, back onto the hallway he was in when running from the soldiers. As he then sets out to find the maintenance area, knowing full well that they're still out there looking for him.]
---***---
[Alright, let's say it's been a whole 1,5 minute of Alter wandering around the hospital amd avoiding the patrol while looking for the maintenance area. He should be getting close to it now. Then the next moment, he sees a door with the label:]
WARTUNG / MAINTENANCE
[The door's partially opened too.]
Please don't disappoint...
[So he nudges the door open. Inside the room there are tons of shit you'd normally see in a maintenance room, tools, shelves, cleaning supplies and whatnot. But then one thing in particular catches his eye.]
...Holy shit.
[A Halligan bar. Leaning against the wall.]
[Alter grabs it, testing its weight.]
Hello there, beautiful...
[He then inspects it. This here is truly a beautiful tool for breaking down padlocks.]
...
Yeah, that'll definitely do it...
[Then, distant voices from a hallway close to where Alter is.]
??? 2: Hey, schau mal da drüben.
??? 3: Verstanden.
Oh shit..!
[He looks around the room quickly, then slips behind a metal shelf, pressing himself against the shadows.]
[Two soldiers enter. One wears a black digital camouflage uniform, a basic armored vest, and medical equipment. He has a neck gaiter pulled over his face, along with black opaque shades and a black cap. The other having similar uniform, except he has some sort of engineer equipment and the same black cap with a black mask and green opaque goggles.]
[The soldiers sweep the room. Rifles up.]
??? 3: Links frei.
??? 2: Rechts frei.
[Flashlight beams sweep across the room.]
...
??? 2: Siehst du irgendwas?
??? 3: Nein, ich suche noch…
[One of the soldiers, presumably an engineer, passes dangerously close to where Alter is.]
...
??? 2: Und?
??? 3: …Nichts. Ich hätte schwören können, ich hab da was gehört.
??? 2: Na ja, komm, wir müssen weiter. Das ganze Krankenhaus steht noch aus.
??? 3: Ja. Alles klar.
[The duo leaves the maintenance room, as the last one steps out, their radios crackle to life.]
???: Johänn, Dutch, status report.
Johänn?: We've got nothing here.
???: Alright, well, keep looking. If we don't find anything in about 30 minutes, we're pulling out.
Johänn?: Got it. We'll keep you posted.
[The duo gets a move on.]
Johänn?: Dutch.
Dutch?: Jawohl.
[Fading footsteps can be heard. Alter stays still for a couple seconds.]
...Jesus...
[And then eventually he stands up. Halligan bar still with him.]
[He takes a look at his wrist watch.]
[...it shows 12 past 7.]
Shit, I gotta get moving.
---***---
[We cut back to the stairwell where Alter found the door to the basement. The one that's chained shut and secured with a padlock.]
Alright... Let's try it.
[He wedges the Halligan Bar's fork into the padlock. Applying force to it.]
C'mon...
[Alter pushes it harder, and then]
[CLANK]
[...the padlock comes off with a snap.]
Amazing.
[He quickly pulls the chains off the door. And that's when he noticed a graffiti in white paint: an arrow pointing at the door, with text in German:]
NICHT ÖFFNEN - TOTE DRIN
[...he's beginning to re-evaluate his actions.]
...Well it's not like I have a choice, anyway...
[He then opens the door.]
[Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee—]
[Above the door is pitch black. Can't see shit. And yet he still steps inside, closing the door behind him as gently as possible. Oh I forgot to mention, before coming here, he got some supplies from other rooms in the hospital and he manages to make a makeshift sling for the halligan bar, so he slings the thing right onto his back.]
[Alter unholsters his G17, preparing for the worst.]
[CLICK]
[The G17's flashlight is on, and the beam cuts straight through the darkness. And holy shit.]
...
What the fuck...
[Hundereds of zombies, just perfectly standing still without a single twitch. Facing random directions.]
Jesus christ...
...
Guess I just gotta... sneak through them... Yeah... Yeah, that sounds like a plan...
[Alter starts weaving between the zombies, his eyes darting from one zed to another. One zombie stood literal inches away from him, but it paid no attention to Alter.]
...
[Alter slowly sidesteps around the zombie, continuing his way through the infested basement. ...It feels sort of endless. But th]
[A gunshot rings out from right behind Alter. The shot hit a random zombie in the head, bursting its head, instantly killing it. The shot missed Alter by a few hundered centimeters to the left. He turns around to see that there's a soldier standing at the doorway of the basement. Same uniform as the two soldiers he saw before in the maintenance room, but with advanced gear, and he doesn't have any eyewear and has what appears to be a jaw prosthetic. He also has eyebags. And he's holding what appears to be a semi-auto shotgun.]
[All of the zeds in the room snap their heads towards the soldier, and begin charging at him.]
[BANG! BANG BANG! BANG!]
[The soldier backs away slowly from the basement, but the infected keep charging at him.]
Fuck this..!
[He uses the chance and sprints through the basement. The zeds ignorring him conpletely and only being focused on the noise. Alter soon reaches the far wall. There's a door there.]
[BAM!]
[Alter slams into door, making it swing open.]

Bluefire: Log #2, Berlin, Germany. 3 days since deployment to Ground Zero. For the record, If anyone even finds this, I'm calling it that because, well, about a month ago, the entire country was hit with a bacterium-based bioweapon. At first we were stationed in the outskirts due to how severe the threat was. And throughout our time there, they've been sending in small teams for recon and similar work. So there's that. Now... where was I...? Oh yeah. The bacterium in question was able to reanimate the deceased. ...yeah, I couldn't believe it either. Look, I'm not a scientist, it's just what intel said. Official word says it was bioterrorism. Some people are already pointing fingers at Russia, saying it was them, while other say it's just the easiest answer. I don't know who or what to believe yet... Well, anyways, There’s more I could say about it, but I’m not going into detail. I will say, however, that they later coined the bacteria "Kurphage". No idea why they call it that, or who came up with that name, but, it stuck pretty fast.
Bluefire: Right, so, we were deployed here with the task of dismantling banditry occuring in Berlin. Mainly russian, but we've seen people of other nationalities too. I'd like to think that it's those fuckin' opportunists desperate enough to have come from all over eastern europe to this shit-hole just to get their pockets full of cash.
Bluefire: ...I'm gonna be honest with you, just being in this place is making my skin crawl. Just imagine how I feel right now, being in a city that is way too fucking quiet. Like I'm in Silent Hill or something. Gives me the fucking creeps...
Bluefire: ...So, moving on... Earlier this day, while en-route to objective, we found what looked like USMC transport. Well, no, it WAS USMC transport, I just coudln't believe it at first. And now that I think about it, this pretty much confirms the fact that the US has been sending troops here. Well, I mean, intel briefed us on that before we were deployed here, but, we needed to see it for ourselves. I'd like to know what they're doing here, but here's the problem, we've got no jurisdiction to question them, so, officially, they're just "operating". And I'll say this straight - I don't buy it one bit. I don't know why, but I have this sort of feeling that there's more to it than there already is.
Bluefire: I really don't like where this is going. Not one bit.
