Watch & Learn from Eddy how to throw an Amazing 18th Bday Party at Hub 17 (Photos & Videos)
At age 18 a lot of kids are just dreaming about what they want to do when they get older. Some kids dream of being a rapper and putting their team on. Well Eddy I is living that dream. He booked his own birthday party with some help of his friends to make Happy EDay.
The first 25 attendees were given exclusive Ed Heads & Amazin sitckers designed by Dave Noodlez. Check out the photos below of his friends and family repping the Ed Heads.
Staten Island residents Paul Marz, Rebel & Starda. The night was filled with good vibes.
When it was time for the birthday guy to perform he didn't make it all about himself. He brought his whole Project Sound crew with him. Every song he brought out one of his homies. He shouted everyone who performed and even made a special shout out to his girlfriend Nicole. Eddy is a good kid with a bright future. It was the first event of it's kind at Hub 17. It's safe to say that Mr. EI had an amazing birthday.

Feedback form - Induction Project – Project Sound (Oxjam)
Name: Aimee
Can you emphasise what you have learnt throughout the Induction Project?
I think the main lesson that I have learnt during the induction project is that team work is vital. Without being able to trust your team there is no event. Everyone within the group helps on the night of your event even if it’s not actually their job. I have also learnt that it is important to start basic and then build up your event, there is no point having a lineup before you’ve even sorted out a venue and all the things that come with that e.g : health and safety. It is also important to not only get on with your team but know them well, over time you will begin to see everybody’s strengths and although everyone will get involved on the night and do a bit of every job; it is also helpful to know that there are people within the the group that have different skills that can be applied to different areas.
How do you feel about organising charity events?
I feel confident that within my team we could host another charity event, we have all learnt lessons from putting on Project sound that will help us to put on a better event next time. The only area that worries me about charity events is the fact that it is a charity event and from our Oxjam event it was clear to me that you shouldn’t ever allow donations without having a minimum amount because there will be a few people in your audience that take advantage of that.
What has been of most value to you?
I think that in this past month the thing that has been most valuable to me has been my people skills. Before coming to DV8 I found it quite hard to talk to new people, let alone get involved with group discussions and feel confident putting my point across. At DV8, you really have no choice but to get involved and talk to everyone if you want your event to be a success but I didn’t find this a struggle at all because it is like having another sort of family here.
What has been your experience of organising your first event within DV8?
My experience has been a positive one,up until the actual night of the event we all seemed to be rather relaxed and confident as a team. The only time tensions rose was whilst we were setting up for the event. I think the regular meetings with each other helped a lot because it mean that we were up to date on everything.
How have you felt you have worked together in your Teams? Were there any problems? What would you change?
I think in my own team (front of house) there were a few issues with getting the rota sorted on the night and everyone organised. My own team seemed to be the only team that struggled with getting the easier jobs done on the night because in the run up to the event, people were coming and going from my group, not turning up on certain days which meant they missed out on some of the meetings and job descriptions and that ultimately impacted on the organisation and running of Project sound on the night of the event.
Has this inspired you to think about working in the live area of the Music/Creative industry?
I have always wanted to work in this area of the media or possibly A&R, which you need live events for anyway. Project sound has only encouraged me and confirmed for me that this is what I want to do in the future.
Do you feel you gained confidence in running the event? If so which areas?
I am certain that I have gained confidence in general since joining the course but in terms of the event I feel confident in most areas. I know which jobs are assigned to each group within the team.
Is there an area you feel you didn’t achieve as much in?
Being in front of house meant that I had to liase with all other groups within the team. Front of house dealt with artist liason because of open mic, events co-ordinators for decorations and promotion because of the wristbands and ticket sales.
Overall how would you rate your experience of running your first event?
For a smaller event I would say it was a really good experience, obviously there will be more jobs and therefore more stress when it comes to the bigger event but Project sound allowed us to get an overall feel for events.
Project sound review
There were very few problems on the night and I think we all worked well as a team. For front of house our main issue was the wristbands and which colours were assigned to each group of people. There was also a minor issue with song content and artists that weren't particularly happy being told that they had to edit or change their songs. Communication within the group was okay but there were problems with job roles.
I personally had a lot of support from the events co-ordinators team. When my own team (front of house) were stressing about small things, going to the shops and organising wristbands it was Courtney and Drew from the E.C team that kept things calm and running smooth.
Aneisha went around the Outset filming all of our preparation for the event and spoke to everybody, letting them rant on camera and trying to de-stress them as well as filming interviews.
Where the refreshments stall was set up, we did find a chunk of fish in the juice which meant that we had to deal with that issue. Open mic was going smoothly until members from the audience that hadn't signed up on the door were asking to perform and with no cd with backing music on prepared, there was a lot of time wasting and messing about with phones. This was not something that could have been resolved as it was an open mic and therefore we couldn't turn people down that wanted to perform.
I personally felt that although there were problems within each group, collectively we all kept checking in on each other and helping where necessary. Our presenters, Montell and Vivian did exceptionally well considering there were latecomers to the open mic and a few glitches. They improvised and together they made a good team hyping up the crowd. Montell also played a huge part in helping out the front of house team where wristbands were given out but no money was collected, he convinced audience members to put their hands in their pockets without being aggressive or making them feel forced into it.
Throughout the night you could see members from the E.M.P group circulating the room, talking to audience members, guest judges and in general, making sure everything was okay.
Overall, I think that as a first event we did well. We may not have covered our costs well but the feedback from the audience was good. Everybody there seemed to have a good night and all mistakes made on the night are lessons learnt by the E.M.P group. The judges seemed pleased with all performers and even requested some perform again,Colin Batsa offered his time for a one on one session with the runner up which was a prize added on the night.
Oxjam :Project sound
Today is the 16th of October and so our project sound event is on. Yesterday and today we have had group discussions to catch up with what each other's job roles are. We also spray painted our black shirts with Oxjam on them and made sure we had any last minute decorations/drinks/food etc. The open mic sign up sheet was completed as well as signs for the toilets and notices regarding the tuc shop. We decided as a group that, seeing as this event is for charity; we would ask for a minimum of 20p for everything on the tuc shop. Front of house finalised the rota and we all know our allocated times and places.
We will leave the CLC building at half 1 and meeting at the Outset (our venue) for 3:15 to set up, do mic checks and make sure everything in the venue is set out correctly.
Tomorrow is our Project Sound event for Oxjam. As front of house, our group cannot really prepare for much other than knowing our rota. The majority of our work will start on the day.
Tasks we must complete tomorrow are as follows:
Greeting audience members
Handing out wristbands
Get details from the open mic contestants and pass that on to Nat (sound technician) and the artist liason group.
Signs for the toilets have to put up as well as helping with other decorations.
The tuc shop will also have to managed, we are keeping the tuc shop as donations as well.
We also have to seperate audience members from artists and direct them in the right place
Overall, our job is to hype up people on entering the venue and be available to answer any questions.
