Hojo Week: Day 5

Nibelheim

Nibelheim makes me think of Jenova. I’ve decided to write a small piece that spins from the roleplay verse I’ve played with this character.

The Professor stood before the eerie blue glow of the tank that held the alien lifeform dormant within. His cold gaze analyzing the creature held there. His hands gently lace behind his back, resting against the pristine white fabric of the lab coat that drifts down behind his slender form.  Sleek black hair flows down his back, secured with a small blue tie. The neon blue light of the tank reflects sharply off the front of his lenses, obscuring dark pools of his eyes from view. 

Within that ever so still posture the wheels are turning. The Jenova project had always been fascinating, had always been something to figure out. What had originally started as a Project for Gast and Shinra quickly turned into an obsession after he found out that this creature wasn’t an ancient but an alien from the cosmos. He had killed Gast to take control of it for himself and now it was all his. Hardly even Shinra’s anymore.

The cells of the alien had been used in multiple people. Some success’ and others failures. In most cases the cells were destructive but there was always the chance for them to bind perfectly to others.  The aliens current body had had enough. It was falling apart, it was dying and he needed to find a way to salvage such a specimen.

Perhaps it was the lure of the alien itself that planted such thoughts within his head, that drove him to madness with this project to begin with. The cells had an overpowering desire to thrive, to live and he was the very key to their ongoing existence. Regardless of the body, the cells would always find a way. 

Fate seemed to be playing into his hands. Hadn’t his men recently told him that they had brought in a specimen they had found nearly drowned in the mako of a broken reactor nearby? The specimen a female they described as liken to a fallen angel. A slow grin begins to unravel across his lips. Perhaps that was the key. Perhaps it would take another celestial body that would bind well with the cells and he would be using a lot of them. Transferring as much as he could to a new and healthy body.

He raises his hand and presses the palm flat against the cool surface of the chamber before him, gazing at the alien within. “Soon, soon you will have a new body to inhabit.” The depths of his voice whisper quietly to the tank, the eerie glow highlighting his smirking features. 

“Project Reincarnation is ready to begin.” A quiet laugh echoes through the hidden chambers of the Jenova room.

Hojo Week: Day 7

Why He is the Best Villain This man gives zero fucks about anything as long as he can benefit from it. He isn’t a well liked character. He may receive a lot of hate, but you know what? Being hated is one of the reasons he makes such a great villain. It’s believable, its emotions that are getting under your skin, disturbing you and causing such an intense reaction. I can’t say that many villains are able to do that.

Some villains are extremely liked but then they aren’t doing their job of being one well. To be liked they must have some point of vulnerability or connection, Hojo has none of these things. 

He is pretty much the mastermind of Final Fantasy 7 and without him we wouldn’t have the game that we all love so much. Everything can literally be traced back to him in some way, shape, or form. He is responsible for helping find Jenova and corrupting the Jenova project. He created Sephiroth, he experimented on Cloud and gave us the broken main character. He completely destroyed Vincent’s life and Lucrecia’s. It is pretty devastating that he didn’t let her see her own child.

He has absolutely zero remorse for his actions. He’ll do whatever it takes to proceed with his own experiments and theories. Even if its nearly destroying the world. He can probably be held responsible for Jenova breaking free as well, for even holding her there in the first place. He may not be the strongest out there but he is intelligent to a lethal degree and that is how he got so far. He truly knows how to play the game to his own advantages.

The fact that he is so good at being so evil makes him one of the greatest villains.

This is a #PeteTastesIt #TextBite, where I quickly review something I come across in the wild. I was gifted these Project 7 gums because people (aka my wife) know I'm into trying interesting foods these days. Also, I'm somewhat of a "gum guy," so I eagerly chewed these gums and now I'm ready to chew the fat about them. So, I did NOT enjoy these gums! Birthday cake flavor tastes like chewing on icing that you can't swallow. Too artificially sweet, icky, and in the middle between not crunchy enough like a piece of Dentyne Ice and not soft enough like Bubblicious. Lemonade does taste like lemonade, but like diet lemonade from a soda fountain. So, I was underwhelmed, these are a Pete-O Veto and I would be hesitant to try any of the other flavors.
