Summary
Choosing typefaces
There are 2 things to take into consideration when choosing a typeface
Visual language
Visual dynamics
Choosing typefaces is all about using visual literacy to pick typefaces that you think are appropriate for your audience and the particular context you are working in.
Research what typography exists in each area. The second consideration is the visual dynamic or aesthetic of how the typeface works on the page, how it works with other typeface or visual elements. Two different typefaces are usually enough for any design job more can make it confusing.
Creating a hierarchy
When you look at a piece of typographic design work you can break down the text into a number of levels
Headline or header
Subtitles
The body or copy text
Establishing a hierarchy defines the relationship between levels. Hierarchy is an important design decision as it affects readability and how easily people will be able to access the information you are giving.
