Join us this Saturday, 29th November 2014 for the TINTACLES WORKSHOP on STREET ART and the ENVIRONMENT with PROJECT BAKAWAN.
The event is a forum/workshop in line with the Tintacles Exhibit Tribute to Don M. Salubayba, which has been extended to December 20, 2014, marking the end of the 2nd trimester at PWU School of Fine Arts and Design.
The week from November 24 to 29 is SFAD Week. Themed as “Narratives of Engagement” under KOLAB PIDABS, the week will be a celebration of seminars, workshops, competitions and Open Studio exhibitions from each of the SFAD Academic Programs, namely, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Painting and Visual Communications.
The SFAD Studio Gallery is also one of the programs of the SFAD, and for this auspicious occasion, it will be presenting a workshop/forum in cooperation with Project Bakawan and TutoK.
The activities on November 29 will begin at 9:00am with talks by Antares Gomez Bartolome, Project Director of Project Bakawan; Nana Buxani, internationally acclaimed photojournalist and video documentarist of the realities that confront marginalized communities; Rai Cruz, convenor of Cvty Collective, a street art collaborative group and art educator; and will end at 4:00pm with a production workshop by Cha Garcia, graduating student under SFAD’s Painting Program, targeting wheatpaste art for International Human Rights Day activities planned for December 2014.
After the workshop/forum all activities will spill over to the sidewalk at Leon Guinto Street, at the back of PWU where the staging of BANGKETA ART/OPEN MIC will take place to close SFAD week. Celebrate with us through our art tiangge, open mic and other performances and the awarding of winning entries to the SFAD Week competitions.
TutoK aka TutoK Art Core, Inc.is a convening group that has organized various art advocacy projects since 2005. It is co-presentor of the TINTACLES Project, composed of the exhibit “Traject-Stories” which gathers from the archives and artworks in the collection of the family of the late Don M. Salubayba to present the various trajectories of the artist as painter, illustrator, animator, puppeteer, among his many accomplishments and contributions.
Project Bakawan is a collaborative project that seeks to establish a network of art practitioners, academics, students, and community organizations in order to secure a sustainable future against the current ecological and global crisis. It is an initiative that seeks to create spaces for discourse and analysis, platforms for building awareness and sharing knowledge, and projects that encourage collective and creative approaches to problem-solving. The project will culminate into an art festival at University of the Philippines in February 2015.
