Finally a little something that has been in the works. #projectbeauty Thanks to Thomas Nguyen for creating such an awesome project. Over the past several years I have worked with middle school girls and seen them stress over their outward appearance. Much of their confidence is based on looks, the perfect selfie, the perfect outfit and the perfect filter. As a photographer I’m hear to make them look amazing, but I also want to embrace who they really are. The vast majority of my senior clients seem to have confidence so I asked a few to come in - all natural - for a photo shoot and tell me what true beauty means to them. No makeup, no filters and good ole t-shirts and blue jeans... all natural. They felt vulnerable, a bit scared, and I heard comments like... I don’t have any eyebrows..... my eye circles are terrible.... and last but not least.... you’re going to have to edit me! I have to admit I knew just how they felt when I showed up with no makeup either! We live in a society that judges by outward appearances, but it’s what’s on the inside that matters.
