The past 4 weeks have been a major turning point in my .... athletic career. There I said it. I shattered my collarbone a little bit over a year ago, and it's absolutely wrecked havoc on my, physically and psychologically.
However in the past month, I think I've finally passed the worst point, I've been able to get back to racing, I set a PR in a 10k race approximately a year since the incident (4 weeks ago) and this was on next to no training.
The next week was another 10k race in which I puked for the first time in a road race. Probably the least pleasant feeling ever, but I think I might have just taken my pre race drink a little bit too quickly. I also think i might have just gone a little bit too deep the week before.
The next week was a break and a trip to Vegas, I got in a few runs, nothing of any significance, but better than nothing, and I also didn't really watch what I ate too much.
This past weekend was a half marathon that I had agreed to pace my sister through. I had decently feeling that I'd be able to do it, even on little training, she doesn't run particularly fast and I have a decent aerobic capacity. The best thing was I didn't really feel all that bad after.
All in all it's been a good month, and I think I've found that love of running again.
