Week 5 - Found Object/Still Life Project Due!

The first project the class has been working on the past few weeks was due today so I'll show you what I ended up submitting.

These are the images that I handed up and was happiest with. I was going to use a different image for the first part but I decided on this one. The other image I thought felt like the flag was too distant and I didn't know if people who looked at it would find it that easy. However I liked that element of having to look for it because it was hidden, so I used a similar image where it was still hidden but you can still see clearly what it is. As for the second image, I am happy with this one. I hope it feels like a totally different mood to the first image to other people too.

In today's class we also played around with some flash techniques. We went outside, separated into two groups and learned how to work the off camera flashes, umbrellas and remotes. Our aim was to get the background completely black and the model softly lighted by the flash. Our group had a little trouble because the location we picked had too much ambiance of light around, otherwise we did everything else correctly. Handy stuff to know for future projects.
