Last Copies! Projective Set / Available at www.draw-down.com / An ambitious oversize artist edition detailing the mathematical implications of the card game Set, as outlined in “The Card Game Set,” a 2003 article by B. L. Davis and D. Maclagen published in The Mathematical Intelligencer. The volume uses the visual language established by the card game itself, presenting—among other elements—81 cards varying in four features: number (one, two, or three); symbol (diamond, squiggle, oval); shading (solid, striped, or open); and color (red, green, or purple). Set is a real-time award-winning game designed by Marsha Falco in 1974 and published by Set Enterprises in 1991. Falco was “studying epilepsy in German Shepherds and began representing genetic data on the dogs by drawing symbols on cards and then searching for patterns in the data. After realizing the potential as a challenging puzzle, with encouragements from friends and family she developed and marketed the card game.” Includes essay by B. L. Davis and D. Maclagan. Concept by G. Madera and N. Weltyk. Published by Cooperative Editions and Common Satisfactory Standard. First edition, 2015. Printed in a limited edition of 100 copies. 214 pages, 4-color Risograph and 1-color offset, staple bound, 11 × 17 in. #riso #risograph #graphicdesign #typography #zine #ProjectiveSet #CooperativeEditions
