The week 3 theme for @projectrunandplay is "Astronomical Proportions". The "proportions" aspect of the prompt reminded me of the vastness of the universe and made me want to incorporate a little bit of that concept into the outfit without looking silly. Streetwear is a style that often plays with fit and comfortable pieces, and I thought the aesthetic would combine nicely with a space themed outfit and allow me to play with sizing. This week the patterns I based the hoodie and pants on where more out of necessity than any sort of plan. I forgot to order more printer paper (whoops!) and I came up with an idea that would use two of the three Seb sized patterns I already had on hand, with some hacking of course. I used the @jojolino.de "Wirbel und Wind" jacket (hopefully the jacket will be part of next week's look) as the base for the hoodie and the "Clipper Shorts" by @jennuinedesign for the pants. Since Seb had already claimed a chunk of that awesome space print ponte di roma for himself (and I've been slow to actually make him something with it), I let his beloved fabric be the centerpiece of the hoodie. Paired with a gray ponte with tiny stripes and a star button a fun detail. For the pants I used a variety of scraps including both ponte fabrics I used for the hoodie, leftovers from the star shorts I made for week 1, and scraps of a snazzy silver coated denim. #projectrunandplay #sewingforboys #geeksewing #spacepants #kidsfashion #memade #sewing #wirbelundwind #clippershortspattern #sewingforkids
