Martin Landau, one of the film industry’s truly iconic actors passed away on July 15, 2017. He was in so many films and television shows that they can barely be counted -- NORTH BY NORTHWEST, THE OUTER LIMITS, THE TWILIGHT ZONE, FRANKENWEENIE, SPACE: 1999, THE SIMPSONS, CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS, TV’s MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, ED WOOD and TUCKER: THE MAN AND HIS DREAM, just to name a few. And that’s merely scratching the surface.
Mr. Landau was a rarity in his field in terms of spirit and longevity. His career lasted many, many decades and he was very much embraced by his peers. In addition to various other award nominations and wins, he was nominated in Oscar’s supporting actor category for TUCKER: THE MAN AND HIS DREAM, CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS and ED WOOD, winning for the latter.
I remember seeing him seemingly popping up in everything as I was growing up. He was always a pleasure to watch and he’ll be missed by many of us.
