I’m glad I didn’t switch from Prolixin to Haldol a couple years ago. I’ll deal with my hallucinations the way I do. Prolixin with the rest of my psychiatric medications works so good for me for the most part. And I don’t think my hallucinations are ever going to go away to be honest, like I’m on so much medications as is and no matter what they’ve tried on me so far for the past 15 years, this is the best it’s ever been for me. I’m not going to risk it. But yes I am going to try Wellbutrin and start taking it in about a week because as far as my psychiatrist told me, it will counteract the side effects of my meds
I just took my handful of night meds but half as much Prolixin this time. If I go a couple weeks of taking half as much Prolixin and the higher dose detoxes I should have more energy and lose more weight too :)
I know that I’m much happier on 5mg of Prolixin than 10mg of Prolixin with the rest of my meds. (I’m allowed to take either dose) but sometimes my auditory and visual hallucinations get way too out of hand and I just end up taking the whole 10mg most of the time but tonight I’m taking the lower dose
I’m going to start taking 5mgs of Prolixin (the horse tranquilizer) starting tonight again instead of 10mg as usual because my psychiatrist said I can do that when I’m starting to feel too sedated and depressed from my meds
I took 10mg of Prolixin with the rest of my medications tonight and I think that I’m going to take that much every night from now on because my craziness really does have to do with the fact that I’ve been taking the lower dose of Prolixin that I’m allowed to take instead of the maximum dosage that I’m prescribed. I know I’ll be sedated and numb again, but feeling unbalanced is hard for me. I also know that the Prolixin filters out the bad stuff I see and feel with my third eye. It’s prescribed to me for psychosis and “the horrible nightmarish feeling even when I’m awake.” So my psychiatrist gives it to me for my psychosis (hallucinations and delusions and paranoia) and “to stop the nightmares.”
Me
Prolixin is a very strong medication. It’s for schizophrenics and bipolar people. It is also used as a horse tranquilizer in animals. It stops psychosis and hallucinations. I am diagnosed with Bipolar 1, but it is also believed by my psychiatrist that I could actually have Schizoaffective. I am prescribed Prolixin, which I take with also the rest of my medications like Lithium and the Invega Sustenna antipsychotic injection amongst other medications for my mental health. (I take no antidepressants though.) The highest dose of Prolixin that is able to be prescribed to a human being is 40mg. I was prescribed 20mg a night, then my psychiatrist lowered it to 10mg because it is a very strong medication. Now recently, he lowered the dose to 5mg a night, with the option to bump it back up to 10mg on the occasions that my psychosis and mania symptoms are worsening. Lowering the dose has helped me so far with the side effects of sedation. I am happy today.
