Following the Prometheus Engineer body paint post, a few of you were curious as to how I made the stencils. I had a look at some reference photos and screenshots and started drawing shapes on card. I made shapes I knew that could be used multiple times with overlaying without having to make loads stencils. I then cut them out with a x-acto blade. To start I built up a base coat of bodypaint to cover the skin and then went in with the stencils and airbrush with a metallic black. Then more black over the top to contour and shade to bring out detail and creating a 3D type effect. I would have liked to see how it turned out if I'd done highlights but found that with the metallic layers, they weren't really needed. I found it a really fun project with a massive learning curve! I don't do makeup so much anymore but I find that anything you do, those skills can be transferred in to any creative endeavour - especially cosplay and props. #engineer #prometheus #ridleyscott #prometheusengineer #bodypaint #cosplay #alien #biomechanical #stencils #makeup #halloween https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo_yB2WDOM0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=gbz16pmlz1c1
