" It's not often we get to see detached solar prominences, certainly not ones that sustain for this long. This time lapse is over the course of 1 hour compressed down into seconds.
Super heated plasma is held in place, high above the chromosphere of the sun. Magnetically locked into place by unseen forces, waiting to be released.
I also capture other areas of the sun, including a grouping of highly active sun spots that littered the face of the sun."
Our Sun is a maelstrom of light and heat, a constant battlefield for plasma and magnetic fields. This recent prominence, captured by Andrea Vanoni and others, bore a striking triangular shape. (Image credit: A. Vanoni; via APOD)

making sense of chaos, or ramblings about suzuno and nagumo pt.1
I’ve been thinking a lot about Chaos after finishing season 2, so here’s my reading of the symbolism of Chaos as a team, as a rebellion against Genesis, but also as a gateway to further read into Suzuno and Nagumo’s characters and their rather standoffish relation to Aliea Gakuen.
this first post will be a commentary about Chaos, to try and explain -- in the context of the story -- why they’re never talked about again after their match against Raimon, and what the ending of their story looks like. also I decided that writing and reading would be easier in the singular so I’ll be talking about Suzuno (because DUH I love this guy -- also he gets more screentime I think), but everything I say also applies to Nagumo.
but firstly, before Chaos: the buildup. yes, Suzuno does want his team to become the Genesis, but I believe him to be motivated by the enticing power more than by a wish to please his "father". unlike Hiroto who fights because he truly loves his dad, Suzuno is shown to quickly grow resentful of Kira Seijirou, and he doesn't hesitate to disobey him and go against his wishes by creating operation Neo-Genesis with Nagumo. because I don’t want to dive headfirst into theories right now, I’ll make another post about why I believe Suzuno/Nagumo don’t think highly of this man, and conversely, what Kira thinks about them (and also stuff about the existence of Diamond Dust/Prominence and how they were purposefully pitted against each other).
other things that hint at the fact that he is not fond of this guy or the concept of Aliea Gakuen as a whole is his visible unwillingness to play the alien roleplay game. yeah he has a weird nickname (personally I love it lol), but that's the bare minimum, and respecting names is all he does. his uniform literally looks like a normal soccer uniform, not a military-style outfit like the other teams (excluding Prominence). also he doesn’t even change one bit of his appearance to look more "alien" (applies to Burn too -- "no but he is slightly different" my ASS he just puts on halloween makeup and calls it a day). no effort into his alien character: it screams rebelliousness.
and that is only the beginning of this idea that Suzuno/Nagumo have more of a defiant stance than the other Sun Garden kids; let’s get talking about Chaos. from the moment Chaos is created, Suzuno and Nagumo have stepped into insurgence territory. they go against every single thing Kira Seijirou has made: from their forbidden alliance between two teams that were created to fight and hate each other, to their wish to dethrone Gaia, the chosen ones. heck their codename is NEO GENESIS. the new Genesis, the better Genesis, the Genesis they created by themselves. they reclaim the name of their father’s best team to better distance themselves: this is a NEW BEGINNING for them.
also the name CHAOS. from a mythological standpoint, the team's name directly opposes Gran's team's two names: Genesis and Gaia. Genesis because chaos also was the beginning of all things, although not in the bible but in greek mythology. and Gaia because of the diametrical opposition between the concepts of gaia and chaos in the latter creation story. now chaos not only is about mythology: it is a word commonly used as well. when do we use it? sure, when stuff is "chaotic", like the team's organisation during the first half against Raimon. but also during times of public unrest, instability, during rebellions, during REVOLUTIONS. a revolution against Gran’s Genesis. and I believe it's not a failed rebellion either. they manage to work together in the end: it is no longer chaos. and what comes after chaos? a new beginning!! operation Neo Genesis has triumphed.
no, they haven’t replaced the Genesis, but they have managed to build a parallel path, their own path, completely separate from Aliea and their father, and now that is the path they’re following. that’s why they aren't shown or talked about throughout the rest of season 2. their secession has succeeded. they freed themselves from Kira Seijirou’s Aliea Gakuen before the other teams did. hence why they weren't found and rescued after the destruction of the academy (ref): because they were already gone, literally (likely back to Sun Garden since some members of Chaos are seen there in a flashback in s3 (ep 76)). either of their own volition or expelled for causing trouble (idk -- tho I have my hcs).
in any case, they were out of that place, and weren't a part of Seijirou’s plan anymore, as he didn't use them (be it their image or team names) in his propaganda slideshow he presents to the protagonists (ep 60). unlike the other teams (Genesis) they (especially Suzuno/Burn) prolly don't end up forgiving their father, cutting ties completely with him. but I'm just headcanoning at this point, and this is the subject of my next post about these two.
hey dude hows it going oh nothing much just thinking about the fact that the members of gaia never used the aliea meteorite and instead practiced their skills by training agsinst their aliea-powered peers.. which means that this whole "who gets to be the genesis" thing was fixed from the start. it didnt matter how many schools gemini storm destroyed it didnt matter how strong epsilon got. didnt matter how good prominence was it didnt matter how good diamond dust became and it didnt matter how powerful chaos was. gaia was always destined to be the super soldiers kira seijirou wanted, from the very start that was his plan. "gu poison" this "survival of the fittest" that, IT WAS A LIE. what did it matter if the captains fought, if chaos tore themselves apart from the inside, if those kids were scared and stressed and just wanted their father? if it made them stronger, then it would make the genesis stronger, make hiroto stronger. no matter how hard any of them fought, in the end they were just the genesis' pratice dummies. kira seijirou knew exactly what he was doing and what he wanted was the second coming of his dead son at the forefront of it
