The times that Steve has to actually take himself to the hospital after any battle or mission are few and far between; mostly because Steve is usually too stubborn and tries to stick it out on his own or because when he does need the hospital, it's because he's passed out somewhere bleeding profusely and someone had to come and find him and drag his lifeless form there. This was one of those rare occasion though when Steve lugged his own battered, bleeding and bruised hide to the closest hospital. He'd been taken to a room right away, it was pretty convenient to be actively bleeding through a few visible gun shot wounds, gets you rather prompt service.
Now, he was waiting for a doctor but the way the nurses had been in a hurry to get him into a room made him think it wouldn't be long before he saw one. They also seemed to think he was in shock at the way he so calmly listed all of his wounds and had tried to insist he could walk to the room on his own.
