Day 3: Wish

Bem is usually down in his luck. Of course he had to fall out of the boat while night fishing. While climbing back in, he saw something that he thought he never witnessed. A shooting star.

I wish I could tell you

a metamorphosis has occurred in me

asleep I was, awakened I am

still a bit of a drowsy dragon

but discovering the intensity of my fire

and the span of my wings

the imperturbability of my skin

I’m all at once hardened and softened

very much less afraid and wholly mordant

yet quiet - more at ease with myself

I wish I could tell you all these things

you catalysed this in me, you opened my eyes

you’re still the funnel of my ardour

and I’m perpetually forlorn that I’m not yours

but this drowsy dragon, once fully wake,

won’t be easily discouraged nor resisted
