Prompto gets cursed and ends up becoming a Chocobo (though with the same level of intelligence and sentience as he normally has) and the boys have to deal with the odd change.
“How on Eos did this happen?” Ignis’ gaze flicked over Prompto, taking in every minute detail. Gladio was doing his best not to chuckle and was currently failing miserably, choked snorts making it past his covered mouth. Noctis stood beside Prompto, hand on his back, trying to keep him calm.
All that Prompto could do was ruffle his newly-obtained feathers in the Chocobo version of a shrug and respond with an eloquent “Kweh.”
They’d been strapped for gil, lately, and had dropped by the nearest Crow’s nest to pick up a new hunt to have enough to get the ingredients for dinner. One of the hunts had a bounty of ten grand, but no description of the daemon. Apparently, it had killed a lot of hunters, and only one had managed to get away from it before they could die. Even then, all the information the hunter had on the thing was that it was ‘a blur.’
The Crow’s Nest wanted the thing dead, obviously, and they requested either a photograph or a detailed description to make a drawing of it in case it appeared again. Somewhat overconfident, the group agreed, and headed to the general area where the thing hunted.
“This’ll be a cinch,” Said Noct. “If we could deal with a Behemoth, we can deal with some random daemon.”
Spoiler alert: it wasn’t a cinch.
The daemon turned out to be some undead bird-like… thing. He almost wanted to call it a zombie, but he was afraid that Ignis would glare at him in that scary, icy way that could potentially freeze Ifrit, if the God was there. It was, in fact, blindingly fast, almost warping from side to side, and they were at a distinct disadvantage.
Gladio could barely get a hit in, his greatsword swings slow enough that the daemon would just dodge out of the way. Though Ignis was fast, the damn bird would just kick out and slap him away, making it hard for the strategist to hit something that wasn’t a slew of feathers. He and Noct were having the easiest time out of them, but even then, the fight was a struggle. Compounded with the fact that for the beginning half of the fight Prompto was focused on getting a decent photo, it was slow going.
Things go exponentially worse when the daemon reared its head back and spat something directly at Prompto’s face. He managed to block most of it by raising his arms, but the somewhat gelatinous substance rapidly spread up his arms, over his chest, down his legs. Swatting at it only served to get his hands covered, and nothing deterred it. As his neck was being engulfed, he cried out, “Uh, guys?”
He saw Gladio turn to look at him, heard him shout his name, and then the substance covered his head. It hardened unnaturally fast, and forced him into a weird, curled up position. Sounds were muffled, but he could make out the daemon’s squawking staying close to him, and the panicked shouts of the others.
There was a long scream, one that shook him to his core, and then there was frantic tapping on the outside of the hardened gel. Prompto tried to move, to tell them that he was okay, for now, but he couldn’t. He was frozen in place, unable to do anything but breathe calmly and not think about the tight space, because if he did, then his claustrophobia would act up.
Before he could start hyperventilating, there was a reassuring crack, and Prompto struggled, hoping against hope that that meant he would be released from his petrified state. He saw a small, hair thin crack form, and he struggled more, desperate to get out.
When he got out, he wasn’t expecting to be covered in feathers and about a foot taller and a literal godsdamned Chocobo. He screamed, which came out as a prolonged, scratchy squawk, which prompted Noctis to scream and Gladio to abruptly stand and turn from a hastily constructed fire. Both of them had summoned their weapons, and Prompto flailed, hastily backing away only to trip over his own two feet because he didn’t have feet, he had claws and wings and feathers, holy shit.
A few minutes later, Ignis had returned, apparently having managed to scavenge a few local greens to cook a hasty dinner. By then, things had calmed, and Noctis had managed to figure out that, yes, the Chocobo in front of him was, in fact, Prompto.
Gladio’s chuckles were slowly but surely starting to grate on Prompto’s nerves, and Ignis seemed to agree. “This is no laughing matter.”
“You gotta admit.” Gladio managed to choke out. “It is kinda funny.”
If Prompto could frown, he would be doing so. Instead, he took a few shaky steps towards Gladio and leaned down to repeatedly peck at his arms. The Shield cried out and backed away, but Prompto kept moving forward, pecking him until Gladio stumbled and fell to the ground. Before he could sit up, Prompto moved over him and sat down quickly, squishing Gladio beneath him.
Noct laughed behind him, nearly falling over as he clutched his stomach. Even Ignis’ normally stoic face melted into an affectionate smirk. Prompto tilted his head back and held it high, and when Gladio started to struggle, he let out a haughty “Kweh.”
Happy Day 2 of @promptoweek ! I’m a sucker for photo booth photos, just ask my friends, I have at least one of these kinds of photosets with each of them! Couldn’t choose my fav of the two prompts so decided to do both Cx

I swear that a FFXV mod needs to be made that takes both of the times that Prompto could’ve gotten a hug and changes them to him actually getting a hug.
“I made a mod for FFXV“
“What’s it do?“
“Hugs Prompto.“
“And you’re charging people $10 for it?“
“It’s worth it, trust me.“
