Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. This seems to be an on going theme in my inbox, and I've been neglecting it a bit, sorry! So before writing this, let me tell you a little about myself, I'm a 24 year old college graduate who works in the medical field, and I've recently been accepted into another school, where i'll be going even further in my studies - still while working full time at my current job, both my parent's and all my relatives are in the medical field, aside from a few business owners and lawyers.
Obama is for the middle class, not the 1% that is making over 1 million $ a year. Lets get ready, how many of us are actually in that 1%? Most people say that Romney is going to be doing all sorts of tax cuts and closing of loop holes for middle income families, but FYI, middle income families to him, are those who are making 250k annually, for the average house of 4. I would like to point out that the average american middle class family makes from 37k-57k annually.
He is for women's rights. Unlike Gov. Romney who is all for cutting funding for planned parenthood, outlawing abortions, making sure insurance companies don't pay for birth control (while making sure Viagra is till covered for me), and that men should get paid more at work, Obama isn't. He believes women are equal to men - which we are. Women deserve to be paid as much as men do if they are just as experienced and qualified, and in some cases, they deserve to make even more then men. The president also believes that birth control should be accessible to all women who need it, in some cases its not even sex related, when I was 14 I was put on birth control because it helps prevent cyst from forming in your ovaries in some women (family history), and those cyst can turn cancerous, I didn't become sexually active until much later in life. There also the benefit of helping with cramps, acne and just regulating your hormones. As far as abortion goes, for me personally, it is not an option, however, who are we to tell someone else they can/can't do it? "That's a personal choice to be made between a woman and her doctor" as Joe Biden said in the VP debate earlier this month. Don't even make me bring up all the "Rape pregnancy being a gift from god" that is coming out of the Romney Campaign right now - and yes, Romney is still endorsing Murdock after this ridiculous statement, and don't be fooled, Paul Ryan may have "changed" his position on this now, but just a few month ago he said something similar, so we all know how he really feels, Romney hasn't said anything in respect to this.
Obama is a big advocate of furthering education, he believes that everyone deserves the chance to go to college/university/trade schools, we shouldn't have to rely on our parents to pay for our entire education - what about the parents who are barley making it by and can't afford it? They all deserve a chance at moving forward in their life, and entering adulthood well prepared because that is the only way people can become successful. How does he want to ensure more people further their education? He wants to make grants more accessible to people - Grants are like loans, that you don't have to pay back (www.fafsa.edu.gov), obama has also increased the federal funding and amounts for these grants, and in some case he has doubled them.. Take a look at the link above, everyone who applies gets that money, and that's money you don't need to pay back!
Obama is for equality in general. Granted he probably wouldn't have said that he was for Gay Marriage if it wasn't for Joe Biden, who gloriously puts his foot in his mouth every time he talks (love him), but it probably wouldn't have been good for votes, but Obama backed him, and went with it, and that's very courageous of any politician, because most of the time they would have never admitted to something like this, considering how "christian" this nation makes itself out to be. Repealing Dont Ask Dont Tell was amazing on its own.
He's environmentally friendly. Obama want's to make us less Oil dependent and find ways to use solar power, and electrical power more commonly in every day use. Making our air cleaner, and our land in general cleaner. This will also help prevent things like the BP oil spill a couple years back.
He wants to lower taxes for lower income families (below 1 million annual house holds) and raise them slightly for the richer. And why shouldn't he? I dont believe this is punishing anyone, I understand some people went to school for a very long time, and deserve to make their 5 million annual salary, but why not pay a little more in taxes, and maybe forfeit one of their 4 vacations a year? It just seems natural that if you make more money, you should pay more taxes, I certainly shouldn't pay the same amount as Donald Trump.
He's for jobs. Lots and Lots of jobs. Romney believes in out sourcing. Why? Because you can take your company to India, or China and pay 10 people what you would pay one person here in america. This isn't right, and companies who out source should be fined, because they are taking jobs away from our own people to benefit those of other countries, Obama wants to give tax cuts to those who no longer outsource, in hopes that it will bring more jobs back here, and it'll get more people working. Did I mention that the unemployment rate is at its lowest since he took office?
Michelle Obama is flawless, and her husband has killer swag.
His hate crime prevention is out of this world. Have any of you guys heard of the Westboro Baptist church? These sick bastards made a habit of going to funerals for Gays as well as Veterans and protesting, holding signs that read "God Hates Fags" or "You Deserved this" - the list goes on, they even made small children hold these, children that probably had no idea what these bigoted signs even meant. Obama recently passed a bill stating that they weren't allowed within a 5 mile radius of a funeral, and if they were seen protesting one, they were to be arrested - this is just one of the many things he's done toward hate crimes. If you haven't heard of these people, I recommend you watch this documentary by Louis Theroux, it's actually very good, and disgusting at how people can be.
Obamacare. I recently went on a rampage on my facebook, which might as well have opened up a can of worms, because it turned into a full on battle between friends of mine. As i said before i work in the medical field, full time and have been at my current office for just over a year now - and twice have been denied health insurance when I requested it. I think most people don't understand Obamacare and what it is and though we dont know very much about it yet, i'll break down part of it:
If you already have private health care, and you want to keep it, go ahead, keep it, even if you change jobs you can continue to pay the same premium, and still have the same insurance, and continue seeing your same doctors (Which you also would if you went with the Obamacare plan)
If you have a prexisting condition; Diabetes for example, you will not be denied health care.
No, you will not be fined if you don't pay your monthly share. What will happen is, lets say you dont have private health care, and you end up in the ER because you were in an accident, they will more than likely fine you a small percentage of the actual cost of your hospital bill (to put it in perspective, an ambulance ride is about 5k, so maybe it would only be 500 bucks instead, seems like a deal to me, doesn't it?) However when you file for your income tax, if you owe lets say 1k from the health care that you have no paid, it will be taken out before any money is returned to you, keep in mind this is only if you do NOT have private health care, also don't believe my numbers, they are just hypothetical.
If you are 25 and under, you can still fall under your parents health plan, whatever it may be. Once you turn 25 hopefully you are doing with school, and can work and pay for your own small premium.
No, you will not "be like canada" and be stuck waiting months to see the doctors. My best friend lives in Montreal, we've had this talk many times. How it works is, lets say you need a routine check up with your doctor - you are doing fine, just want a routine check up, yes you could possible wait 2 months before seeing the doctor (and yes, you can see the doctor you want, no one chooses for you), but lets say you are having heart palpitations, or fainting spells, yes, you will get in to see the doctor right away, no waiting. That seems reasonable to me, doesn't it?
Working in the medical field, I see so much abuse from the pharmaceutical companies, one medication we prescribe, costs about 300 dollars a month - and most insurances won't cover that. That's unfair, and completely inhuman, Obama wants better control over the pharmaceuticals so they can't abuse of the patients who really need these medications.
Alright, these are just 10 reasons I've given, I could go on, but I don't want to overwhelm anyone, or go on for days. I also left out the fact that Obama has a killer personality, and you can't deny that - but ill leave that for next time! Maybe I should write 10 reasons not to vote for Mitt? I hope this was helpful to any of my followers who kept pushing me to do this.. If you have any questions about what I said above - or something that I didn't mention, feel free to message me!
