” Palestinian “
the way the west talks about Palestine already tells you everything about how they view non-western frameworks but in specific they still act like “Palestinian” is one single ethnicity instead of an entire mix of people and ways of life: fellahin, bedouin, ahl al-madinah, druze, samaritans, akkoans etc all get flattened into the singular label despite our cultures being relatively quite different + our genetics
I think the reason people have this mindset is because zionism NEEDED that flattening. settler projects like it don’t work if the land is full of people and different cultures with their history and complexity. the concept of Jew vs Arab is a clean and marketable binary, however, a multi-ethnic, multi-religious society disrupted by a racialized nation-state project is not.
simplicity here seems to be less ignorance, and more so intentional strategy.
I am proud to call myself a Fellahin :)
