The depth of Prophet Ya'qub's grief when he was separated from his son, Prophet Yusuf ('alayhumas-salaam), and his unshaken imaan.
🌿 ❛His grief was unshared, unexpressed, and uncomplaining. Who could share it? Who could understand it? He bore his sorrow in silence. Yet his faith was undimmed, and he trimmed the lamp of patience, that sovereign virtue for those who have faith.❜ [Commentary of Yusuf Ali's Translation]
🌿 And Imam Hasan al-Basri rahimahullah said: ❛Ya'qub was separated from Yusuf for 80 years until they were finally reunited; his heart was filled with grief that would not depart, while his tears flowed down both on his cheeks — though he was the person on earth who was most beloved by Allah (at that time).❜ [Tafsir Ibn Kathir (the original volume) 4/413]
Prophet Ya'qub was loved by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, yet he was tested the most in grief and sadness. When a believer finds himself often being tested in life, do not have bad thoughts of Allah, for perhaps he is written among Allah's beloved servants.
So just like Prophet Yaq'ub, don't despair no matter what comes our way, and always place our hope and tawakkul upon Allah ta'ala.
🌿 ❛And whosoever has taqwa of Allah, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty).❜ [Surah at-Talaq 65 : 2]
