Helpful Tips for AERA Student Reviewers

So now that AERA Proposals are submitted, what's next? Other than patiently waiting to hear if your proposal was accepted or not, you may have volunteered to review proposals for AERA Division J or any of the AERA special interests groups (SIGs). Notifications for review duties will go out in the next couple of weeks. While reviewing proposals may seem like a daunting task, thanks to the AERA SIG Doctoral Education Across the Disciplines, we have adapted a tip sheet they created that has helpful information on how you can turn your reviewing experience into professional development. Reviewing proposals as a graduate student is a unique opportunity to both provide service to your field as well as hone your research competencies. Even if you did not sign up to review for AERA, these tips are applicable to any review duties you may have coming up in the near future.
