Valley of the Gods
We finally made it to Indian Creek! Matt’s been talking about this place ever since we’ve met and it has not disappointed. . We’ll be here through April or until the desert heat gets too oppressive. But for now we’re watching as many sunrises and sunsets as we can, climbing all the splitter cracks, reuniting with the best dirtbag climbers to share our day-old cold curry with, and escaping to Moab to recharge and refuel. We couldn’t ask for a better home. . #indiancreek #protectbearsears #exploreutah #deserttowers #sixshooter #wilderness_culture #aerialphotos #aerialphotographer #dronepilots (at Bears Ears National Monument)
#Repost @greggdeal ・・・ It’s nice that @patagonia is trying to hit this issue, but the Indigenous communities affected by this move most MUST be heard. Not one tribal government who has significant stakes in this have been talked to or included in this effort. 5 tribal governments have had their tribal sovereignty cast aside making this the second major move Trump has made against Indigenous people in this move that is less unprecedented and more falling in line with the American tradition of disregarding this land’s first people. The space proposed for industrialization is filled with over 100,000 sacred sites, ceremonial grounds and burials of old ones. This is Indian Land. This is the land our Creator has covenanted to us. We are the stewards of this land, and we will fight to protect it always. (design concept by @alexismunoadyer and @kaytebrown! Sacred Strides XII // The things we choose to carry. How often we choose to carry pain. Carry anger. Carry fear. Only to act surprised that they have followed us. As if the chests and minds that hold them, the legs and limbs that carry them - are someone’s other than our own. Listening at night around the campfire to the stories of the runners, I was marked by the grace with which many acknowledged pain, fear, and anger and then set it aside in order to carry on with hope, resilience, empathy and love. As the sun winked and grinned over the sandstone mesas on our final day, what she found was not anger, not violence, not fear; rather a slow line of men, women, children, and elders, running, walking, shuffling and occasionally stumbling up the sandy draw to the West of Comb ridge, moving forward together in prayer, in power, and in healing. #sacredstridesforhealing #protectbearsears @wings_of_america @bears.ears.prayer.run.alliance (at Bears Ears National Monument)

I’m no social justice blogger. Honestly, today I am just so so sad.
It’s no secret that Indian creek is occupying my climber’s dreams: amazing landscape, incredible rock formation, perfect crack line. But this place and many others are in danger as the trump administration is trying to reduce bears ears national monument and opening it to mining &co. @accessfund is ready to sue to protect these public lands and native Indian lands full of history. Please check their site and donate to support their action! Today’s drawing is of @devinfin climbing Scarface, in Indian creek obviously, from a picture by @johnevansphoto #savebearsears #standwithbearsears #protectbearsears #bearsearsnationalmonument #bearsears #indiancreek #accessfund #climbing #climbingpicturesofinstagram #drawing #art #crackclimbing #tradclimbing #tradisrad
