Apparently hurting Sam and Darlin has become my favourite pass time.
They couldn’t breath. Their ears rang and all sounds sounded distant, Darlin gasped for air that didn’t seem to meet their lungs. They could hear Quinn’s voice but they also heard Sam’s. His voice. He sounded desperate and fearful. Please don’t sound scared Sam. Suddenly air flooded their lungs, they gasped. Their vision no longer foggy. Quinn was in focus now.
“Steady on there love.” Quinn moved his hands to gently cup their face, tracing his thumb along their cheek. An almost lovely gesture. “All you gotta do is kill Devi’s Shaw’s pretty little mate?” Darlin forced a growl out of their throat. Their throbbing mind reeled. He’s tell them to do what? Kill Angel? That concept seemed impossible to them. Angel was their alphas mate which meant that -even though Darlin wasn’t close to their pack- they considered Angel a part of that.
“No-“ Darlin snarled, “please.”
Quinn leaned forward and buried his face to the crook of their neck. Darlin shivered when feeling his tongue glide across their neck.
“Why not?” Quinn pondered for a moment, “come on, one mate for another?”
Darlin didn’t miss a beat, if before that night someone said; Darlin would’ve denied it but they didn’t miss a beat.
“Bastard.” Darlin whimpered when Quinn’s hand wrapped around Darlin’s throat. “I won’t kill them. I.won’t.kill.Angel!” Cloaked out a yell.
He should be able to hear them. What they’re yelling would probably light a fire up his ass. David wouldn’t take to kindly to anyone threatening Angel.
The wolf came out of nowhere. That was marked by the fact that Darlin could breath. He came barrels g out of the tree’s snarling. A growl that frightened even Darlin. David threw Quinn like a rag doll, the vampire hit the tree with a crunch that Darlin took satisfaction in.
David glanced back to Darlin, they started at each other for a second before Darlin threw them self up and towards Sam; who had gone silent. Darlin’s heart pounded in their ears while they scooped Sam into their arms. Holding him to their chest.
“Sammy?” Darlin held him close as the sounds of the fight grew more distant to them, “come one, stay with me.”
They barely heard the sounds of the rest of the pack quickly approaching and tearing into Quinn. Sam’s eyes were barely open, staring at them.
Sam could only see Darlin, his thoughts faded and he’d lost his hearing a few minutes before he felt arms around him. Their voice was distant and fading fast. The last thought he had before fading out was “why was Darlin crying?”
